have been using transformer for years just paying 40% more for led's without housing. getting some to ck quality.

you might see improved uniformity using dc, if quality is an issue

120 volt ac to 12 volt dc transformer. Made for app: supports up to 250 watt  my  reason is all mt light controls are 120volt base master unit.

Thats great, but an led is a dc semiconductor device while a transformer is an ac device. I was only trying to say that with the correct voltage transformer for your led string you would still be switching them on and off at 60 hz, where if you add a rectifier and a little filtering after your transformer you can get the output that your led's are rated to provide, along with more stable performance.

your rite-::: variable  I have the parts free  to do it this way and have  done it before so it amounts to simple no thinking solution. I'm old and thinking hurts. I also came by 200 ft of sideglow fiberoptic and the light sorce I'm going to play with.Also free.  It's impressive and you can tie it in knots like a thin line approx 1/8 inch od.  more strands you add the more light it produces.   Bob
