Great thread Bob,

It's funny reading some of your post and recalling the same sentiments with some folks forum habits in the forums I have participated in. I was a member of this forum years ago... like 2002 through 2005. When I returned I noticed some new folks... but essentially I am the new folk now. I am thankful this forum is here, the magazine is published, and the folks on this forum share thier knowledge. You really can't put a price on the wisdom that is shared.

Art you had "six" blanks in there, now I am ex Navy and all that, but i had to "make up a couple of words" for the last two.  That T'were a lot of blanks Amigo.

Pet, darn, guy, stupid, bites, silly. You bein ex navy you just had your mind in the gutter, lol

"Pet, darn, guy, stupid, bites, silly?"

Aw C'mon, you think I just got dropped off the turnip truck?  There is nothing incendiary or inflammatory about any of those words or in other similar words, they could have been used in the sentence structure without hesitation and would have been non-offending.

But the use of _____ was a modifier to convey a message contrary to what those words would have given, in other words, suggesting adjectives of a much different nature.  By the way, "I use 'em all the time, so I don't think I am in the gutter, but it could be possible."  I do however possess a fertile imagination and I have a pornographic mind at times (I remember every dirty picture I ever saw).

So much for today's quote from Mr. Language Person ....

Good, after reading this, I know what to do and what not to do  :) Truth is, you guys are all super nice and super helpful. I'm here for good. Now, a question from the newbie. You guys mention going over your old posts. I have not yet figured out how to view all of my posts in one place ("posts by you"). Are you guys looking somewhere I'm not? Wait! Is this a hijack? :o  ;)

You got that right.  I am on a lot of forums and they all have a good side.  All the others have a dark side as well, but not this one.  It is kept clean and friendly.  I have never had a spat or anything of the sort here, only good wholesome bus  porn and a lotof help from a lot of good folks.  I am here to stay as well.

As time goes by the face of the board changes a little; The names of the members change. I still visit regular but mostly read now and don't comment as much. Enjoy the new Ideas and view points. Keeps everything fresh. If there were not a constant input of fresh ideas both good and bad we would have nothing to discuss. So if you get a little aggravated when you ask for input and don't get it be patient:: some old fart will chime in with how he screwed up and did it wrong or why he would not do it that way again-- if he had a choice. I make it a challenge to learn something new every day. A open mind to change and willing to share leasons learned.   Bob

Bob, I really appreciated that you started this thread, as I can very much relate to your comments. I haven't commented much, either, because I feel that I have much to learn and little to teach when it comes to conversions (that, and the usual "too busy" excuses). As for questions or help, a search of the old threads always seems to resolve my issues.

If there are any regrets about being more of a lurker here, it would be failing to engage in a community of wonderful folks who I have never met but feel like I have known for years. This is especially true in my failure -- over the last couple of years -- to acknowledge the ever-reliable birthday wishes, which are always appreciated and part of what makes this forum a great place.

Enjoying the thread!
