turn signals not working

hey all..

trying to get bus ready for its first trip and only big thing left is turn signals..they only come on solid when i try to use them.

I found this ( see pic) in the electrical area panel on outside of bus near drivers seat but can not find where to get a replacement.. also if i have this should i also have the normal car type smaller one or not?

part number reads 1039-07733-03

the -03 is a little sticker and under that sticker it reads -01

Sounds like the flasher which you have already identified. heavy duty flashers are available at most truck parts outlets.

Sometimes if a bulb is burned out the flashers on that side will not flash.

No reason to have the car flasher.

Not to hijack, but if the turn signal only works for the left turn signal, but not the right, but the right side does flash along with the left when the hazards are on, is that the flasher module too? Or something in the turn signal switch on the steering wheel?

Bruiser,

as stated check your bulbs first, the car flashers are 12 volt and wont work. Have you tried Luke @ US Coach for the replacement solid state flasher?

Thinking this thru: questions where does the top wire go?  is it to ground? if so is it a good ground.  Is red wire a power wire if so is it live?  The bulb point is a good one if one is out the flasher unit will not necessarly work.  do your emergency flashers work? Look for a second relay.  Just some starting points been awhile since I have been into a MCI.  Bob    Check Grounds

all lights work when I flip turn signal switch with this solid state flasher in place..

but none blink..

when I discount the wires no lights work , so I know the blinker signal power goes threw this..

i will call some of the people and see if anyone can get me one..

does this unit have to be grounded in order to work? thru mounting screw?

Sounds like a bad ground to me, but I could be wrong.

Disconnect the wiring from the flasher, reconnect the power in and the ground.

On the power out, add 2 or three lights in series to ground.

If it works, you have a bad ground to the chassis.

If it doesn't work, you have a bad flasher.

Alternatively, replace the current flasher with a KGU of any brand that is compatible, (available at almost any truck parts supplier), and see if the lights work.

This ain't rock science or braid surgery. Follow the wires. They will let you know what is working and what is not. If all lights work when hazard flashers are engaged but not when one side or the other is engaged, chances are you have a bad ground. It's your job to find the bad ground.
Remove one bulb at a time. If the system quits when you remove one particular bulb, BINGO, you've found the place where you have a ground.
That was a hint. See if you can work out from reverse process how to figure out why the system still works if you remove one bulb.

I found out after 3 days of searching the Kysor flasher would not work with batteries below 22v or if the candle power of all the lights combined was over 32,if it is bad buy a replacement from Ryder Fleet they cost about 1/3 of the Kysor or you can buy the electronic flasher from Napa for 15 bucks like I did

replaced the flasher with a new one and everything works.. it was just the flasher

good:we only mention grounds because they are a big problem on older rigs.

Glad to hear it was an easy fix.  I had to replace both my flashers when I went to LED as they would not flash at a consistent rate.

My turn signal system is set up kinda screwy.  I have two flashers.  If I remove either one everything still works.  It is almost like they set things up for redundancy on the flashers.
