Alternative to bus ramps

When I only need to work behind the rear axle, I find it easier to put the rear end over a bank. I wish I was in the picture for reference because there is more room there than it looks. Be sure to use a spotter, set your brake and chock your wheels. Even though I don't need it, I still block the frame.

That's great if you have a bank to do that.  Alot of us are working on flat concrete though.  Good Luck, TomC

Make sure you keep plenty of fire ant poison around, too.  Nothing worse than working on your bus, only to discover your drawers full of fire ants.  Can really harsh your mellow

When I retire (I have 22 yrs to go  ), I am going to make myself one of those fancy concrete pads. The problem where I live is that if you need a flat spot you have to make one; but, if you need a bank to back over, there are plenty of those around. My poor kids don't care to play ball much, here in the hills, it takes too long to retrieve them if you miss. The crazy thing with that photo is that without someone under the bus for reference it doesn't look like much room. It might have something to do with the curved driveway coupled with the limitations of a two dimensional picture. The next time I will do a better job. I have several bus projects that I am taking pictures of. When things slow down some and I get them finished I will post them.

Not having a handy bank I just made two piles of crushed limestone gravel and back up ontothem, works fine and I get to choose the spot. This also makes it easy to work on the front axle.
