How comfortable and durable are they?

We are looking at a dual recliner.

We have had it in our bus for 4 years now in the ultra leather and it is holding up very well, But like Clifford said they were slow at shipping. I even orderd extra fabric to do my dash a few years later and it matched just like the original. I would buy from them again when I do the next one (LOL) Jason

I have bought recliners on recommendation by friends.  That isn't a guaranteed success except for quality.  My butt, and I suspect yours as well, is a unique item.  It likes what it likes.  I recently bought a spendy LazyBoy leather recliner.  I visited the store twice and stayed for a half hour each time.  I sat in the chair that I eventually bought on each visit and my total "time at the controls" was about a half hour total.  Exceptional piece of furniture and supremely comfy........for about 30 min.  Then my tailbone starts to ache.  I am still a very very happy camper for 25 minutes and feel princely at sitting in anything that is that pretty and smells so downright manly good. :-\

That old cheap ($400) LazyBoy that I threw away had issues but being comfy wasn't one of them.  That thing was an extension of my posterior.  I think I am living an old Frasier episode.

You are going to spend a lot of time at the controls of that Puppy, Paul.  Drive it more than a couple trips around the block....and get a warranty.  LB has a 30 day refund policy and I might use it.  What a great looking and feeling chair.....for 25 min. :'(

Well, it looks like we're going to give it a go. We are not in that big of a hurry, so the time frame is no big deal. This will be our third lounge layout, and told Becky "Get what you really want this time". The first two times, we sat in them and it didn't work out. This time we are relying on "Hope".  ;) Happy fannies are important!

I bought a new to me Detroit and an Allison, guess that's a fair tradeoff, don't ya think! ;D

Thanks for the feedback guys, it's appreciated. 8)

I assume Flexsteel does not compare at all???

JohnEd

Art,

Not true, by me.  Every FlexSteel recliner I have seen looked to be very high quality.  Those that I have sat in seemed well designed from an ergonomic standpoint, as well.  I don't think you can beat their pricey Captains chairs no matter what you spend.

There are dimensions that will make a chair "wrong" for an individual.  Too high....Wifey's most encountered problem with her 5 foot B Ball players center type frame.  Seat padding too hard or soft for the user.  Too narrow in the seat but too wide is OK.  Seat is too "deep" so your  legs rub under the knee.  Too shallow and your dangling legs will make your hips hurt.  Arms too high or low or too short.  No elbow support to keep your arms from sliding off. Fabric that allows you to slip into a slouch unintentionally.   Back not high enuf to support the neck in recline.  And more.  You need a test flight as well as a indoctrination on what you should be looking for and paying attention too.

I did all that research.  I visited 4 different furniture stores and went through all the brands they each carried.  I took my time and revisited every store and brand.  My butt got progressively smarter.  Had the two models I liked made by FlexSteel come in leather I would probably bought one of them.  And saved a TON of cash.  I had enjoyed a LazyBoy for years but it was one of their bargain models and the padding in the arms had shrunk.  it was still comfy but it was well worn.  I finally dropped a couple grand on the leather Lazeboy at the high end and it felt grand....initially.  Not any more.  i have "right of repatriation" or I would be cutting my wrists about now.

The European designed stuff seems to all come in "three" different sizes within a model.  Petite lady, medium human and really big Fella.  They had everybody beat in every regard except elbows and ease of exit.  Wifey couldn't get it to reset so she could get out of the thing without a ladder.  Always a corner.

By all means, look closely at Flex Steel.  Let you posterior sneak a peek. as well.

HTH and sets the record straight ;D ::)

According to our research, Flexsteel does not make the dual recliner. That is why I posed the question. If they would have, we would not have looked any further. We have Flexsteel captains chairs and really like them. So there ya go! ;D

I have flexsteel in our old bounder, albeit they are almost 20 years old now. They are not comfortable for a long haul. I have been looking at air seats for up front, but most of them are not real good looking and hard to match to anything else. Having done some reading, I realise I dont need an air ride seat in an air ride Bus, but if I could remove the air hieght suspension and retain the air bladder system within the seat that might be good.

Ralph7

You can get solid seat bases, air bases are extra $$$$.
Check big truck shops, here seats are as you go in the door to the parts area. Also if you get a seat with air bladders make certain it is easy to R&R bladders, yes they have some over pressure protection, but they die.

Well, we bite the bullet and ordered the dual recliner with massage for each seat last night. We'll see how long it takes to get to Georgetown, TX. ::)

We originally had an air ride for the driver, with lumbar. For some reason the red seat didn't match our decor, go figure. I didn't like the bounciness of it anyway.

We do like our gently used Flexsteel captains chairs, 6 way power and very comfortable. They are ultraleather, tan in color. Bought them from Colaws last October while on our three bus rally trip! 8)

Paul, I purchased most of my interior furniture from Discountvantruck.com, I'm very satisfied with it, two couches, dinette, and two captains chairs with 6 way movement, lumbar support, and heated.  Their delivery was slow, but they arrived well packed and in great shape, I would buy from them again!
