I posted this on the EI board, but thought I would share it here also.

An Eagle bus nut turned us on to an 01 with some much needed parts. It was so sad to see the ole gal sitting there with no Love! Thanks Al for your help and time in this adventure!

I had never seen one that early with the rear scoops for combustion air, pretty cool look.

Then the front which looked like a  kid missing some teeth. I finally found and acquired the much needed headlight and trim pieces that will eventually go on ours. They are in pretty good shape considering their age. They were not easy to remove I'm tellin' ya! The center section along with the corners are in remarkable condition. Once polished up it should give our coach the look I've been waiting for.

Then I saw how the bay doors were hung with what looked like original gutter above.

I really would liked to have had the whole coach, (You should have seen the look on Becky's face, Priceless!) ;) but with no place to store it, it will probably find it's way to the scrap heap in the sky!  :'(

The front springs had lots of adjustment left, the rear axle springs also looked to be in good shape with some adjustment left. It was interesting to see a single rod shifter for the tranny, first time for that also.

It's really too bad that the PO had removed the original front cap and installed a 10 cap. It ruined the nostalgia look for me. The aluminum siding was in pretty good shape also, along with a few war wounds that happened somewhere in it's life. The breastplate was sound and free of holes, unlike one I removed on ours.

It's just sad to see this relic which once was one of the "Proud Highway Runners" back in the day.  :'( :'( :'(

I agree with-why do Eagle owners immediately want to upgrade the looks with new caps?  The older look of the buses are priceless.  I especially like the looks of the 5.  Good Luck, TomC

I agree, I like the old looks, but I think that in most cases, they were upgraded while still in commercial (especially entertainer) service trying to get a few more revenue years out of them.
