I will be in the New York, then Philadelphia area in the near future. Anyone intimately familiar with either one of these areas, and is willing to help educate me, drop me a message so we can make contact. These two areas seem to be very bus unfriendly and I need to figure out the dos and don'ts and run some ideas through someone.

Thanks

in nyc you can park at liberty harbor campground which is 500 feet from the fairy or 2 blocks from light rail both will get you to nyc  the ferry is faster but more cash. the parking is $64 per night no discounts at all even if you stay 5 months. they are real bastards but you are close to everything.also security there is tight with a "guard" on patrol night and day. the showers are not the cleanest and they only have one dump-sight for the whole place. water and power included no cable and no wi-fi....

Laryn - In Philly just east of Independence Hall across from the Omni Hotel (I think) on the south side of Chestnut north of Walnut (sorry no busnut) on 2nd there is a parking garage with the first level being reserved for buses and RV's (there were signs with arrows saying RV parking - One of the most user friendly locations ever) They didn't even charge me because there was no place to collect the toll for the lower level (don't plan on being so lucky) - You can do ALL the tourist stuff from there including  a short walk to South St. to sample a Philly Cheesesteak (please order provolone not cheese wiz) - Best advice I can give about NYC is stay in Jersey close to a Port Authority p/u point and ride the bus in and out - FWIW and HTH

BO,

I can get you secure parking in Camden, just a speedline ride from center city Phila, if you wish.

Also if you wish to check out the NJ shore, I can assist with parking and facilities at the beach if interested.

PM me and we can go from there.

Have a great trip.
Experience is something you get Just after you needed it....

If you're thinking of parking in Manhattan, forget it.  Even a lot of the charter buses drop off their passengers and head to New Jersey to wait for pick up time.  Law enforcement is VERY tough on bus parking and standing in New York and see it as a revenue earner.  There are fines for parking, idling and just about anything else you can think of.
