I think that's one of their traffic cameras. they have them about every mile or two on the freeways here. You can look at a website for live still shots to see
how much traffic is in a certain highway in case you want to pick a different route. The state monitors the cameras and calls for assistance when necessary.

At least it was not a complete loss, they saved the rear bumper and tail lights. Our local fire dept usually get to the fire in time to save the chimney and front steps.

sounds like the fire department in my home town. aka the foundation savers.  ;D  We had a house fire when I was in high school and they used a backhoe to put it out. ::)
