Has anyone used the M&G engineering http://www.m-gengineering.com/ braking system? If so good or bad, I like the idea of it being mounted permanently and running of the air brakes and not relying on a signal from the front of the bus. Thanks Jason

I have one and I like it

Makes a big difference in braking

Thanks guys, I liked the idea of using the air brakes. Did you install or did a dealer install it for you? they don't look that hard to install.

Actually I took it to my truck mechanic and while he had the pathfinder there I had him snake the cable for the lights to the back so I could hook up some Auxiliary LED lites

Be sure that if you disconnect the battery that the emergency release stays hooked up

I need one of the M&G systems for a 07 Jeep Wrangler if anyone has one that they want to part with.

I have M & G on my Jeep it works well and is a lot easier to connect to the bus than a lot of systems I have seen. On the jeep you have to move things in front of the master cylinder to make room. It took about a half a day to install.

As Wayne says, it can be a pretty good challenge to install on some vehicles.  I took a long look at it for our 2002 Dodge 3/4 ton truck that we tow.  It was going to be a huge job to move everything around.

The good thing about the M&G is that it installs after the vacuum chamber and before the master cylinder.  That takes the vacuum chamber out of the picture.  I have towed a Dodge Durango and the service truck and used an air cylinder on both.  On the Durango, the brakes always seemed a bit "funky" after I unhooked and first drove the vehicle.  Does not seem to be a problem with the truck.  Also, the M&G will be sized properly for each application.

Question, those of you that installed the M&G system (or who use an air cylinder pushing on the brake pedal like I do) - did you install the break-away system?

I could rig one up, but it has never come to the top of the list.

Anything that ties directly to the tow vehicles braking system adds an additional failure mode. The readybrake is the only system ive seen that is completely autonomous, and that does not rely on any external power source to operate.

To each his own but I wouldn't walk across the street for any of the surge type systems JMO after using a MG

Jim, I did on the jeep. With M & G it is a small air tank that mounts in the jeep. To charge it you apply the brakes on the bus and hold them and it will charge the air tank. The normal cable between the toad and the bus is used the set off the brakes.

I just got off the phone from ordering the M&G, I got the breakaway system also, should have in 4-5 days. I hope installation is a breeze. Jason

I originally wanted to go with the M&G, but as Wayne mentioned I would have had to move stuff (fuse panel). So I went with the SMI Air Force One. Very satisfied with the system, all I do to hook up is connect one air line. The thing I really like is the box installed on the toad also makes vacuum, so I have power brakes on the toad.      Wilbur
