Introduction from NC

I just signed up and have read a ton of information on here (Thank you for that)

Just figured I would say Hi and post a pic of my new purchase..
The plan for delivery is 3 weeks or less..

1983 MCI MC-9 w/ 8v71 and a 5 speed Allison Tranny.
967,000 miles on it
but the bus is in great shape and the best part is that is is already converted to an RV

You're in it now!  I don't know whether to congratulate you or feel sorry for you for catching the bus nut bug.    Aww, who am I kidding?  I love being infected and don't want to be cured.   

Congratulations on a good bus to get you started.  In this market an already converted bus is the best way to go in my opinion.  There will still be plenty of work you can do on it to make it exactly as you want it.

Good for you. And...if you don't wake up in the middle of the night occasionally and question your sanity; then you are not holding up your end on this forum! HA!
I bought a converted MC9 and I've never looked back, with the exception of the above mentioned events.  Hollar if you're ever up toward Roanoke, VA.

Welcome to a nutty habit!       You're in Raleigh...where's your bus?    If you plan on driving it for some distance and it hasn't been used for a bit, service it, or have it serviced before setting out on a long journey.   And, in the event you are not familiar with MC9s, get the PO to show you exactly how to operate all the 'stuff'...such as battery disconnect, rear start panel, emergency roadside triangles and flares.   Correct tire pressure (especially on the inside duals), and runup blocks and chains for the tags.   The emergency equipment and chains are usually located in the battery compartment.   How long has the coach been out of 'service?'..or more to the point, how old are the tires and fuel filters?
I'd recommend new start batteries if there's any doubt about the batteries condition.  
If you plan to pick the coach up, find some way to (stick?) to verify that the fuel tank has fuel.  Don't let it run down below about 25 gallons.  And never park an MC9 with the drivers side down when fuel is low.  It'll run out of fuel.  
Is the bus a manual shift 5 speed?  Most MC9s have HT740 automatics (4 speed)...but then, 'most '83s had 6V92TAs too?
I'd like to have your bumpers....?!  Where did you say the bus was located?  
Those wheels will polish up really nice.  Easy with truck alloy wheel polish.  Requires redoing every couple of months to stay bright....but they are nice when all polished up.  
Got any interior pix?

well a buddy of mine was driving around Cary and found the bus.. had no sign on it or anything he said it had been there for about 1 year....so after some research on the web I found owner of lot and we started to talk.. we talked for hrs and I got tons of info.. he even has a over 1" thick pile of paperwork that even shows the engine rebuild 32,000 miles ago and a new clutch at the same time.

Interior is very well done, I will get pics and put them up soon.

the guy selling bus just bought 2 new starter batteries for it since the others were dead. we met at bus checked fluid and bus fired right up with no smoke or anything and ran nice and smooth.

a freind of mine has worked on 8v71 before and he checked it out and all seems good, but I wil be taking it in for service asap to get oil changed and have a tech just go over everything, plus it will need to be inspected.

as for tires any suggestions in NC where to get them? it does need new tires..

as for tranny it has 5 speed manual that needs to be double clutched or if you are good no clutch and just shift at the right time
