Sewer tank probes cleaned

Good news.  My sewer tank probes always showed up as full. I pulled the access flush plug on the top side of the tank. I took a water blowout plug for water lines and put it on my house water hose. Next, I put a short flexible plastic hose 3 foot (1/4 inch or so) on the plowout plug and turned on the water full blast. My wife went inside and watched the indicator lights on the gauge. She told me when the water was on the probe by the dimming of the light at 1/4 - 1/2 etc. I sprayed them for awhile but they only dimmed down from previous bright ones. I thought it was a waste of time but when I went out a few days later, everything works as it did as new. The probes dried out. I know they will probably (mess) up again but I am happy today. Someone on here gave me the idea to try it.

I have the most reliable tank level monitors available.  I ordered all three of my tanks with white plastic so I can just shine a light and see the level. Good Luck, TomC

Drain tank at dump station have bucket of Ice and close valve  run toilet full of water dump  put ice in dump into tank. drive home forget.  ice cleans probes/melts  all is good.  do as maintance on occasion  or just buy external sensors. or clear tanks.  Do it your way.

I can remember my dad dumping a degreaser solevant into our s and s when I was a kid.  I dunno how well it worked but he did it once a summer. I dont know if it was for guages or for another reason...

With my first S&S the gauge always showed full.  Then someone told me about the magic elixer that cleaned the sensors! They worked great!!

Till the tank was full and had to be dumped. Then empty it showed full again.

Cleaned, dumped, full again, just not worth it.   JIm
Remember, even at a Mensa convention someone is the dumbest person in the room!

I think there is a belief that it is paper getting stuck on the sensors that causes the problem.  However, I think that it is just a crud buildup on the tank walls that gets them.
You don't have to believe everything you think.

I pulled our stainless holding tank a while back to access the fuel sending unit..At the time the sensors were reading full when the tank was empty. The inside if the tank was clean no residue not even in the bottom corners nothing.

I believe the moisture in the air in the tank condensates on the sensors.
