TV in a bus.....

How do most of you guys get good satalite reception and do you have much trouble getting it set each time you stop for the evening....thanks dave

I don't flip a switch I have it trees give a problem sometimes I just move a few feet

I wander around and find someone with a dish then watch through the window. I also have 3 tickets for window peeping to my credit!!!

Good thing my folks didn't name me Tom!!

We have a sat antenna on top of the bus we use most places. If trees interfere, we have a portable that can be used up to about 100' feet from the bus. We use a "batwing" for local stations. Jack

We use a Tracstar in motion. Now my wife won't allow anything other than in motion because she gets to watch tv while I drive.

I use the Bat Wing-it picks up digital just fine. I was surprised at how well it picks up stations. I picked up two Phoenix stations at the Caverns one time. When parked at an RV resort-they usually have cable. Good Luck, TomC

We get our TV shows via Netflix DVD's mailed to us. No commercials, perfect picture quality, and we can watch a whole string of episodes in a row, on our schedule.

Netflix makes it really easy to change our mailing address, so we change it to point to wherever we are physically at and can get mail. Sometimes a new address every week.

I never imagined that Netflix would work so well for full-time traveling. Way more convenient than Redbox, or Sat-TV.

Hi Dave, Over the years we have tried a portable satellite dish and as Jack can attest I never had any success setting the dish up to properly receive a signal. if he wasn't there we never got digital tv, it was that simple. Plus I was always forgetting to put the service to "sleep" when we were not in the bus. (So the cost of the service went on and on.) I even went to Camping World one time and bought a "automatic" digital dish that was supposed to find the satellite for you. That item was not working right out of the box.

I finally gave up and installed a batwing antenna with the High Definition attachment. I have never been happier. The picture is far more detailed than with satellite tv and we get all the local tv stations, plus at most parks and campgrounds there is cable available. We have three tv's in the bus, all three are 1080i and all three get a 1080i signal (for free) Personally I think that is the way to go.

Dave: I'm not familiar with batwing antennas... is this something that I can get at walmart? Not sure what to look for.

I've seen a lot of people raving about a particular Philips HDTV antenna. You could check over at rv.net.

I don't have TV in my bus so I can't help out more than that.

Here's where we got ours. We have the $25 or so High Definition attachment as well. Our picture is better than sattalite I've been told is because local HD stations have more bandwidth to work with than the sattalite boys do.
