Has anybody converted their bay doors to open out instead of up?

I was reading the posts on slide-out bar-b-cues. I was thinking if our bay doors opened out like a normal door, a slide-out bar-b-cue, or entertainment center, or toolbox, or would be a lot easier to implement. Any ideas?

Those are cafe doors two 1/2 doors on each bay,  done all the time bad thing they swing out far they look nice

You really don't want swing out doors. I have two buses, one with each, and the swing out (UP) is a pain. It is always blocked by something; trees, posts, walls, cars, benches, tables, - the list goes on and on.

Pantograph doors is the way to go they come out a couple of inches then go up the side of the bus to the top of the bay, Eagle had the best setup on pantograph doors they didn't use the rollers and cable like MCI

i have been thinking how i can use van sliding door pieces and  ;Dchannels, etc to make a door that slides backwards... would take a tad fabricating, but haven't seen anyone else do it yet... i bet it can be done, and people like me spend days and days just trying to make stuff like this work...

Sliding doors would be interesting, however, they will block other doors when open.

I have two minivans and the sliding door mechanics are certainly not simple. On the other hand, anything can be done with time and money!! It is definitely a challenge.

I fully agree that pantographs are the best.

Anyone ever tried roll-up doors for the bays? Something along the lines of those used on fire trucks or some pickup-bed covers.

Probably Nusa is thinking about replacement. Makes sense to me. Lighter also.

Sonnie has designed a nice set up for pantograph doors on his Eagle!

Or you could look at some Setra's and copy what they did!

The new Foretravel IH-45 has sliding bay doors.
