Entry door question

  I have A 5B (MCI) .   My door hits at the bottom, hard to close, really doesn't seal that good either, and the

  list goes on.  Where can one buy another, and will any others work, 7.8.9.?

Look at the bottom of the door and see if you have any screws that are loose/protruding. I have one that i have to tighten up every now and again.

The door is very adjustable, both up and down, in and out, side to side.  Maybe all you need to do is adjust it.  The vertical adjustment is inside the dash where the big upper hinge attaches to the chassis.  It's not intuitively obvious how to do it, and I forget the exact detail, sorry.  You loosen a lock nut and then crank the door up or down with a acme thread hinge pin.  You need to loosen or adjust the lower hinge in sympathy to what you do on the upper hinge, but the upper hinge carries all the weight of the door.  In and out at the top hinge is with shims, at the bottom hinge is loosen the two bolts that hold the hinge to the chassis and hit it with a hammer to move it (with tact, obviously).   Side to side is loosen the bolts that hold the hinge to the door itself, for both hinges, and move it within the slots.  Access to the bottom hinge bolt is under the rub-rail on my door.

Also check the condition of the top hinge! I have seen many of them WORN out and in need of a rebuild. (Not an easy task, but doable and once done you'll never have to worry about it again!)

How did you get one rebuilt?  I looked at mine closely when I installed it (I switched from bi-fold doors to sedan door so I had to install all the hinges), and I thanked my stars that the upper hinge was in perfect shape.  For those that don't know, the upper hinge on these is a long Acme thread (might be true square thread) hinge pin that is threaded through the hinge and captured top and bottom on brackets on the body.  The hinge swivels on the Acme thread.  To adjust up and down, you crank the threaded pin so that the hinge is located higher or lower on the pin, then you lock it off so the pin can't rotate.  Making a new pin would be easy, renewing the threads inside the hinge would be nearly impossible....

Don't give up until you've read the manual on how to adjust the door. It is part black magic!!

I once spent a week trying to keep my 4107 door from coming unlatched underway and it turned out to be a one inch piece of door gasket keeping the latch from closing properly!!

Very frustrating.
