Heres a pic of a 5C driveshaft fro a 8v71 with a spicer 4 speed. Note the yokes out of phase. This is to inform 5C owners what they have.  Tom Y

Heres why, note the spline.

I wonder if that is to accomodate the fact that the engine is installed at an angle to the rear end?  It has about a 10 degree offset from 90 degrees fore-aft.

So it looks like there is only one way to slip it back on. That's a good thing. Mine is out of phase like this too, because of the angles between engine and drop box.

OK but I don't see where they compensated for the weight loss of the other missing spline on the shaft or maybe inside. I don't feel any verb-rations in mine or is it different on 6v- 71 and Automatic MT 654

The missing spline is compensated for by the bigger spline of the other shaft. When the two are slid together there are no voids.

Dave, If you look at yours and it is out of phase I would think it the same.  Tom

yep must be because it is also out of Phase about 10 degrees.
Thanks Tom

With the amount of torque going through that shaft, its surprising they arent using a CV joint. I thought the angle was only 5 degrees. 10 degrees is actually quite high. Good idea to give these MC5 drive shafts some extra attention. Dont wait until its thumpin. And dont keep going if it starts.

I did not think it was 10 degrees??? I had on mine 3.89 degrees of engine out of parallel to bus. Not sure now??
