A Warning in Purchasing Centramatics

I recently became convinced that Centramatic balancers would be beneficial, so I began watching Craigslist.  First, I go some for the rear duals and am happy with those.  I just bought some for the steers that were for the standard 22.5 wheel.  The model number is 600-630.  It turns out that they do not fit though.  They are made for a 15.5 inch drum and mine are 16.5 inches.  Hence, model number 900-910 is required.  I just wanted to pass this on in case anyone else was buying some.  I will list these on Spare Parts for you small drum guys.

Thanks, Lin. We bought some of the steers, so we will see what we have to do. We'll start with measuring the drums.

Define happy?  What problems did it resolve.  Vib at 60, all vib, cupping.  I have heard rave reviews but most said that their tires now run smooth at 60 or 70 or some specific speed.  They are sure on my list and it is good to know that all 22.5 aren't the same.  Thank you for that.

I've been running them both drive and steer on a semi for about 10 years. I can't say they resolve any issues as such, but they sure make tires last longer. Somewhere around 30,000 to 50,000 miles longer.

John,

Although I seem to believe that the ride is a bit smoother at speed.  I can't really say it is only from the balancers since I added two new tires at the same time.  But I am a man of faith.  Centramatic claims that they lower the operating temperature of the tires, which makes sense particularly in the duals.

Tom-- if you have a spare tire, see if the balancer fits inside the wheel.  The 630 did not fit over the drum, but also did not seat inside the rim.  The 910's must be a little deeper and have a wider flare angle.
