Ok, so I finally found out what the problem was with my In-Law's Ford E350 van on their way to PHX through Socorro NM.

Evidently, there was a large (maybe 2 ga) wire from the batteries running back to the wheel chair lift on the passenger side. This wire must have been
rubbing against the frame or possibly a manifold. As best can be determined, when it shorted out, it somehow was "spiking" the computer, and possibly
causing it to reset, which then caused the van to lose all power until the computer reset.

From what I gathered, the Ford dealer did not have time to look at it for several weeks, so they found another shop in the small town who was extremely helpful.
However, after changing the fuel filters, the problem was still there. They were preparing to tow it back to Albuquerque around lunch time, when a mechanic
from the Ford dealer came in on his lunch break and just happened to have his diagnostic computer with him. I got the distinct impression the two "competitor"
mechanics were good friends, and maybe a call was made prior :)  Anyway, they were both looking at it and running diagnostics, and could not find anything. So
they took it for a drive. One mechanic driving, the other in the passenger seat and my In-Laws in the back. Somehow, they determined that the computer
was resetting, and somehow, they tracked it down to this one hot wire shorting against the manifold. A little electrical tape, a couple tie wraps, and $500 and
the In-Laws were on their way. Made it to Phx and back home with no more problems.

Now, that's all the information I have on it, but I told him that was the best $500 he ever spent because chances are he and I could have searched for this
problem for days and still not found it.  I've been under that van, and the lack of quality from the "professional" conversion company that built it is simply
amazing!
