QuoteI wouldn't be suprised to see another recession.

That's a given.

Our incompetent President's (more incompetent than Bush) no drill policy is working out great. We went from dumb to dumber and have no backup plan. Where are the solar panels that are now manufactured in China that are supposed to power my car?

Many on this site have said that $5.00/gal. is the break point where they will sell or park.  125 gal of fuel at $5 is $625.  A few fill ups at that price and the vacation money gets thin quickly.

At that price, who you gonna sell it to?  Not meaning YOU specifically, I mean who in general.  I just talked a guy out of buying a bus this very week for the same reasons you mention.  By the way, mine holds right at 225 gallons, and we put back $450 a month for our fuel fund, at this rate, one trip .... Say to the Cody meeting and back to Oklahoma ... and the fuel allotment for the entire year is used up.

Not very encouraging.

Cant we just get rid of the blue counties? That would solve about 90% of our troubles right there.

At $5 a gallon you should get vaseline.

When it was .25 they said howdy what can I do for ya, then washed (and wiped) your wndows, checked your oil and added, checked brake fluid and added, checked bug juice and added, checked your belts and adjusted or replaced if needed, topped off your radiator, checked and filled your tires, and said thanks, come back again. Today they snatch your money and throw your change at you without even looking up at you through their bullet proof glass.

Ah, you gotta love it, the American sense of humor!  That was cool.

I can remember as a small child, my Mama and my Dad arguing in the front seat about "the high prices of motorfuel" while we were on vacation ... .18/.21 cents per gallon for high octane.

Just think one of these days you will find yourself saying ... "I can remember when gasoline/diesel was ONLY five dollars a gallon and dogs could not vote!  Those were the good ol days."

All this talk about fuel prices made me get my fuel logbook from the bus.  I think we forget that we have been through this before.

In 2008, we started out in Jan. paying $3.14, then the prices shot up and in July, we paid $4.69 (I saw several stations at over $5 but kept looking for a "better" price).  In Dec. we paid $1.99.

Every time this subject comes up, we always get terrible predictions of what will happen in the future.

In the mid '70 we endured fuel shortages and that was a very trying time.  Some folks predicted that we were close to exhausting the world supply.

When fuel first hit $3.00 lots of folks quit traveling.  We were vendors at the FMCA Convention in Charlotte  (middle of Lowes Motor Speedway) in 2006 and that was the first year that diesel hit $3.  FMCA had budgeted for over 7,000 motorhomes.  I checked my travelogue and the official attendance was 3015.

All of the above is intended to try to balance the "Chicken Little" thought process.  Yes, fuel could hit $5 and maybe it will stick.  History would suggest that the price will swing back to a better level when all the speculators get done playing.

I have to admit that all of the problems in the middle east are scary.  We just have to hope that things there will settle down and the new governments will provide stability.
