Hi yo silver

I didn't want to hijack the thread on wind noise, so I'll start a new one.  It oughta be short.  Bus Warrior, you suggested tightening up the door seal to eliminate noise, which I have.  No, not me, the bus. If I'm sitting nose low, which is most of the time, if I've been parked for a few days; well, not me, the bus, if it rains, I leak water.  No, I mean the door leaks water. Anyhow, who has the seal. Luke or MCI?  Also, how much of a job is it to replace?  I don't know why I'm even asking you guys. Heck, y'all tear the roofs off and cut the dang bus in half, just for fun! Here I am whining over replacing a door seal. Just forget it...;)

Dennis, I replaced my inner door seal and it was fairly easy and I got it from IPB in florida. I asked about the flat seal on the outside and nobody new what I was talking about. But the inner one did help with the wind noise. Jason

The seal has to touch all the way around.

Loosen off and push it in and re-tighten, bend whatever metal to get it to touch.

You need to do this with the air lock charged, open and close the door with a helper, so you can watch and see what kind of movement/squeeze is going on and try to find the compromise in positioning that will keep things dry and quiet.

If things are not lining up like they used to, the door having suffered some indignity since it left the factory, you need to decide if the stock seal is going to do the job or whether you need to start working on a home spun solution.

Watch to see if the stock seal has been torn away, look closely, it could have been trimmed away, a return to the full piece might be all the difference. The last commercial operator didn't care, and his low paid driver didn't either.

Check other coaches of the same model and see if they differ.

Get on the horn with Luke, 888-862-2434, maybe fire him a few pictures, he'll set you straight and if he doesn't have what you need, he'll send you to where you need to go.

Hi yo silver

"Well, alright then."  (Didja see "Blindside"? Good movie.) Usually I get to put off stuff, but Nooo, You guys threw me beside the bus, giving me all this help. Now I gotta fix that door seal. THANKS, GUYS!

I replaced my door seal with one from Luke. What I thought would be a two hour job turned into an all day deal thanks to rusty screws. But it was worth it considering the hours of whistling we would have to endure, and the ensuing insanity I would have developed.

It's the education gained, and the ability to apply, and share, what we learn.
Have fun, be great, that way you have Great Fun!

Note to busnuts: ear plugs are a good thing too, with or without good seals!

The front end of the coach is quite noisy.

Even in the new commercial coaches, which are much quieter than our classic rides ever were, I use ear plugs for a long drive, and absolutely if the video/sound system is being used.

Noise makes fatigue,
fatigue steals your attention,
and with no attention,
well,
your next forced project might be body work...

And, strangely enough, you can hear folks talking more clearly?

Hi yo silver

Bus Warrior,
I still think you oughta put your windshields back in and just clean 'em good, like the rest of us. You will save on tooth brushes goggles and scarves, too. Hee Hee! Couldn't resist.

You have to get up here to Canada...

We have buses like your old fire engines, you know, only the windshield, open top...

Makes it easier for the driver to point out the attractions for the tourists.
