Hasn't that bus been on Craigslist for better than a year?? Seems like their is already thread on it somewhere either here or over at Eagles International. I may be wrong but I thought he use to have it listed for sale because his wife died. Now it is for health reasons..

Well if she died that is sort of a health reason. She ain't healthy no-mo!

But you see.... The wife dying was the first reason... Now it is for sale because of health reasons... but he is willing to trade for another bus?? Do those health reasons go away with another bus?? If that was the case then anyone that had health problems could be cured with buying a bus. I sorta like the thinking behind that. I would think Health reasons would have been BEFORE the Death reason. Who knows, that might not even be the same bus.

250 bucks worth wouldn't be a deal killer if the supports are still there

In fairness to the gentleman selling the bus, he would be going from a non power steering 4 speed spicer to a usable bus with power steering and automatic.

Anyway, thanks for all the input.

You will have to deciede if this is worth it or not to you. If you have a place to keep it and work on it you would have a classic Eagle. What everyone is trying to tell you is that there are ALOT of better deals out there. But also if you can/would trade yours for his and his is running legal and safe (!) its your choice. How often do you use your current rig for instance. Any bus can be a big $ pit. I like the classic looks but as to the interior, only you can decide. Good luck. Hope your a bus owner soon. (Please make sure this thing runs down the road. Run her up to the Wildweed truck stop and back on a nice warm day.
we love our buses!!! NE Pa or LI NY, or somewhere in between!

Marc.. That is understandable.. Maybe you should make a trip to check it out and maybe have another Eagle busnut in the area to meet you there if one is available. Your gut feeling should tell you something after you see it in person. If your gut feeling is a positive one then have the bus thoroughly checked out. The Eagle guys can tell you what to look for. I agree that its hard to beat the classic look of an Eagle. Good Luck in whatever you decide.

I appreciate all the input.  Since it has come up, I have been leaning away from the deal, especially considering that I don't really care for a lot of what has been done.  Major systems are in place, that was the appeal.  No question there are better buses out there, but not as many people willing to trade.  I have had a ton of interest in my bus @ $15K and a several trade offers for everything from hot rods to  real estate... Just no cash. :-\

The ideal thing would be to sell mine, then use the power of cash to get a screaming great deal on a finished coach.  Believe me, if I was a cash buyer, this bus wouldn't even be a consideration.

A couple days ago I asked the seller to measure the ride height and adjustment left on the torsion bars.  He just emailed me the following response...

Hi Marc;
I got the numbers you requested. Measuring from the bottom of the body to concrete slab is as follows;
left front= 12"
left rear =10-1/4"
right front=12"
right rear=10"
Length on thread adjustment remaining on left torqualactic tube=2"
length of thread adjustment remaining on right tube=1-7/8".
If you should need anything else, let me know.

I was all but off this bus, but would still welcome thoughts on it.  It does have some appeal to me.  Gotta love an Eagle.  The story is that it was part of a charter fleet in Virginia with a maintenance records, including a recent rebuild, brakes and clutch.  It also has tons and tons of new conversion parts with zero time, including a 12kw generator.

To be honest, the most appealing thing is the even trade aspect of it with no cash out which would allow me to pick away at it and do some custom things inside that would suit our needs.  Just trying to remain open minded.

You don't happen to know the name of the Charter Fleet in Virginia do you??? Could it have been Abbott Bus Lines aka Abbott Trailways in Roanoke VA??

Hi Jimmy,

Yes I do.. If it was one of their buses, I can put you in contact with the owner and his father. The father really knows the history of their buses. I could have written a book with the info they gave me on mine from everything to when they purchased it, when things were upgraded, painted, engine rebuilt, to you name it... Very good guys.
