1980 mci9 generator regulator

i took a 8v71 motor out and put a 6v92 in i am using the old regulator and the new generator that came on the 6v92  how do i match the two to make them work  right now they don't charge thanks tony

Should be the same. They both had 50DN alternators.

Did  you check to make sure you connected the new alternator to the same posts in the electrical box, or to the same wires?

Or did someone change the alternator on the 6v92 before you got it?

yes i think i have the wires right there are only two that you can change but somebody told me you have to do something to make them work together
