Since we bought our bus in February we have been trying to decide on a name for it. I see many use a female name, but when I look at the bus its just not feminine. The other night as we were watching TV, I commented to the wife that "We need to take The Hound for a run". She looked at me with this strange expression ( I guess she thought I wanted sex  ;D ). Several minutes later she asked what I was talking about. I told her we need to take a bus trip.
Last night as we were discussing the days events, she looks at me and said " You know you just named the bus".   "THE HOUND"

I know many of you have named your bus, I thought it might be interesting to hear how others decided on a name???

My bus and boat have the same name - Maggie - after the avatar on my website, Maggie Zene. With the boat it's for promotional purposes (there are complicated rules on advertising), and the bus has just got stuck with the same name. The bus doesn't actually have the name written on it - somehow it always seems tacky to do that, even though it's normal and expected with boats. No logic to that, I know.

A shameless plug for my business - visit www.magazineexchange.co.uk for back issue magazines - thousands of titles covering cars, motorbikes, aircraft, railways, boats, modelling etc. You'll find lots of interest, although not much covering American buses sadly.

"Fools Gold"

For the obvious reasons... the bus is gold and we are fools!

My bus has been called MANY names, it changes all the time depending on the mood of the bus. (and my mood)

But because I am really bad at remembering names I mostly refer to it as "The Bus".
I refer to my Dodge truck as "the truck" my Triumph motorcycle as "the bike" my GTO is the only thing I refer to with it's real name "the GTO".

To paraphrase: "That which we call a Bus by any other name would still demand our attention"

When mine gets painted (maybe before?!) it will be The Electric Mayhem, in honor of my favorite band from a long running TV show. (Don't know who they are--Google it!)

I may even buy a special hat to wear like the band's illustrious leader wore.

Mine was named "Toy Box".

An earlier travel trailer in my life was "Destiny's Plaything", as my job was on the road and I never knew where I was going next.

Years ago we got a new cat and after a few days my wife came home from work and said, '"so have you named the cat yet"?  I was turned away from her and with my impaired hearing what i heard was, "Soviet Catnip"?  I said "soviet catnip?....what are you talking about?" Once we figured out what had been said, and heard, and laughed about it, we realized we had just named the cat. We called it "Sovi" for short. ;D

My first GMC Coach was a PD4104 I named it "Highway Traveler" as this was the name that Greyhound used for it's PD4104's When they were first put into service.
Note:My PD4104 was not a Greyhound 04 but a ex Peoria Rockford Coach Lines 04.
The P8M4905A that we now own is called the "Luxury Liner" as this is the name that GMC Coach used for the Buffalo series coaches when they were first introduced.
Interesting note Trailways called their PD4104's Air Rides.
jlv ;D

Dreamscape

We named ours Dreamscape. Actually I named it before I met Becky, but she said it was OK, so  I guess I'm off the hook! ::)

It was always my Dream to Escape and travel around this great country, it just sounded good at the time.

I didn't Google it and since then have found it more popular that I wanted it to be. Oh Well! :(

Actually it's gender neutral, I like it that way, so when I get upset I can call it anything I want! ;D

The Hound sounds pretty good, go for it! As long as Darlene says it's OK! ;)

I call our bus "The Bird" since it's a bluebird...  Also because that's what I get from people when I'm grunting up a hill on the interstate doing 45.

My previous "sticks and staples" 1982 Georgie Boy was called "Cousin Eddie" after the character on Christmas Vacation.  Unfortunately, the name was very fitting!  LOL
