I'm new here, but I have read the archives a lot. This man contributed much into making this one of the best forums on the web. Even though I wasn't active when he was contributing I felt like I knew him from reading what we are left with. His spirit lives on. I was hurt to find out he passed. Today would have been his birthday. May God Bless and comfort his family.

Richard will long be missed by those who knew him, but I suspect he will be even longer remembered for his contributions to the bus nut community and this forum.

I think of Richard every time I see a misspelled word and see his past posts.  I never had the pleasure of meeting him, but each year at TBR I get to see the old Driving Miss Lazy Eagle. Now it's called Sanity Fix. Mike and Brenda have done a wonderful job keeping the Eagle alive.

I have a story about about Richard's tag line that is special to me.   I had a friend that had serious liver problems for years.  Well, it flared up and he was taking some meds each morning that made him hyper for about an hour.  So, he would come by my shop and we would talk.  The last time he came by before he died we talked about this quote and how we had both grown up "on the beach" and had done more and had more experiences than most people.   

So, thank you Richard for this quote.

    I consider it an honor to have had the pleasure of knowing Richard and Janet. They attended our very first, and several other Bussin' rallys. We also met up with them at a Timmonsville rally. 
   I got my brass train whistle frpm Richard about 1 year before he passed away. I always think of Richard when I give a blast on that whistle, which is about everytime I pull out onto the road. 
    I have always tried to live my live based on Richard's quote. Whether it has been racing motorcycles, riding in rodeos, roping cattle, kayaking, scuba diving, water skiing, or flying. I have no intention of passing up the opportunity to try something new.  Jack

  Funny! I still think about back when I first got my Eagle, barely made it home whit a blown motor   I was done before I had even started, Had it not been for the encouragement given to me by Richard,on the side lines, as well as numerous others. I know how much Richard missed his Eagle. He was a long time bus nut. I remember him telling me all about

his 4104 and his sandrail buggies back in the 70's..
