Air rises to about 55 to 6o and no more.  There is a huge leak.  I can tell the driver side air bag is leaking.  What is the better way to replace the air bag on the front drivers side of a 4106.  It is the rear of the two.  I will be calling luke to get a replacement bag.  I assume it comes with the plate on top?  I have a set of ramps.  Do I need to take off the wheel?  It will not air up enough to inflate  the bags.  Also The air compressor is not airing up at all. 0 on the guage.  I changed out the compressor with another used one and nothing new.  I can get the bus to air up to 60 with the air line supply coming off the MCI and the front tank of the GM.  I tryed airing it up with the air chuck in the rear but that didn't work either.  With the former arrangement the MCI will only go to 85psi sooooooo big leak.
I am in Yuma AZ and would gladly pay for help?.
Any good places to take it.?
Any mobile?

Thanks this is really turning into a nightmare.

the reason you get air up to 60 is because the suspension is fed off the aux tank which only gets air when the system goes above 60 psi.  If you have a known working compressor on the engine and you are not getting any air into the system I would suspect the governor.  you can get one at most Napa auto stores, and many truck shops.  I have seen people say they got them for anywhere from around $35 on up.  unless the airbag is completely blown, it should not keep you from building some air, even if it takes a while.
Some are called, some are sent, some just got up and went.

even a quarter inch hole will blow out copious air.  I once tried to air up with a single 1/4" fitting off, as soon as the PPV pressure was passed it couldn't gain another pound.  That was the day I learned how the stop lever works on the governor...  with no aux air pressure the kill switch would not work.

To change an air bag you need to jack the bus up, get the bus up on blocks, take the front wheel off, and have at it.

It may not be an air bag after all  I gave him a call and it turns out that he is only 8 blocks away from me so i went over and took a look. We came back and got my portable compressor which is bigger than the ones he had. After hooking it up and running it for a few minutes we found that the tank up front had a big leak on top of the tank which made it seem like a bad air bag from the way the air was blowing around.  He may still have other leaks and a bag could be bad, but he needs to repair or replace the tank first and then air up again. The funny thing about it is that just before i left we traded cards and as soon as i saw his i knew that we had met once before about 5 years ago.  ;D

That's great, I am sure impressed when people are able to get together.  A different perspective on a problem sure helps.  Blowing out a hole in an old air tank is not the easiest thing to fix, but fixing the actual problem is a good start!

You are in luck having Ed nearby.  He is very thorough in getting at a problem.
You don't have to believe everything you think.
