There was an exzisting floor on a sub-floor I pulled and I was right back where we started.

Here is the install I did on ours.

This thread is very timely for me. I've got a honey do that includes granite for a bar countertop. The bar top will only be the width of the tile, 12" or so. Around 6' long along one wall in the lounge. What would be a good edge material, do they sell bullnose edge pieces?

I was thinking of building the frame out of oak with the plywood over the edge. I just need to figure out how to give it all some strength due to the weight. Maybe use some oak kickers or something to that effect. One end will be supported along the kitchen cabinet base, the other over a small cabinet to hold a printer and supplies.

What's the best way to do this, install on plywood with a backer board? Use silicone for the adhesive? What grout would work best?

As you can see I've never worked with this stuff.

Thanks a bunch!

No bull nose for grantie Paul you need to make your own I mitre my joints on stone then polish the edges on countertops the tiles butt together then you slide a quarter ( or buy the tool) over the seams in 3 places on all 4 sides to make sure it is level you still need a nonsanded grout for the joints.
I use 3/4 plywood and 1/4 backer for the sub base.
You will need a set of diamond grinding pads to do the edges unless Becky will settle for square edges I wasn't that lucky lol the 2 speed grinder cost me over 200 bucks you can use it if you like

good luck
