I understand there is a switch that installs on the trannsmission so that the jakes only work when the converter is in      " lock up "

Anyone know the # of this switch or the correct  name ??

Thanks

I have Jakes on my V730 and I don't believe there is any kind of switch like you're talking about.  Mainly because if you're in converter mode, there is no engine braking through the converter, so the when you release the gas pedal, the engine just goes down to idle and hits the buffer switch on the governor.  With my 4.56 rear axle ratio, I can get converter lockup as low as 20mph-which with you're 4.1 ratio would be about 22mph.  Good Luck, TomC

Are you talking about keeping lock engaged longer.

Not sure what I'm talking about :) LOL

I was asked if I had this switch by the fellow that is transfering the Jakes from the 8V71 to my current 6V71

I am installing the air throttle, the Stone bennett shifter, and the jakes all at the same time while the motor is out on the shop floor.

He mentioned in addition to the buffer switch there is an additional switch ( ? ) that prevents the jakes from activating unless the transmission is in Lock up.

I know with the Stone bennett I will be able to hold the tranny in a specific gear for climbing hills.

The VS2-8 tranny was hooked to the 8V that had the jakes, I'll have to check to see if there is a extra switch in the  transmission area.  It was a factory installed jakes on this engine.

I have the V730 hooked to the fresh 6V that is getting the Jakes.

There is no connection with the V730 and Jakes. Air throttle and V730 is probably what he is talking about.
