bus usage

I brought the bus home from the skanee house yesterday, I had parked it out there for a while cause I was using it for a second home while I had the house torn up inside, when I went into it to use the bathroom while working on the skanee house roof I found that somebody else had also used it, somebody had made a sandwich, sat at the table and ate the sandwich with a bowl of soup (clam chowder) and then cleaned up and left the washed dishes in the drainboard, the soup can was in the waste basket lol.  See? even we get burgulars, anyway I brought the bus home, with hunting season coming up I worry about things like bullet holes in the windshield, I figure if I want to head out for a weekend it's not too hard to drive the bus out.

I don't bother to lock my bus most of the time.  It only gets locked if I am packed for a trip, or still filled with stuff after a trip.

The most valuable thing in the entire bus to a burglar is the stereo.  Other than that there are mattresses, a few cleaning supplies, and some pots and pans that could get taken.  It would be cheaper to replace the stereo than to replace the door or the lock.  I don't keep food in the bus because that attracts rodents.

I live in the big city in a large metro area, but I live in a safe area.  My garage door has been left open by accident a number of times with nothing ever missing.  The garage can't be seen from the house so that help.  (Usually the door won't close all the way for some reason.)

In this area it's still pretty tame, when we headed south for the winter a couple years ago, I had to search for several days before I found the keys to the house locks, since I had built the house in 1981 I think thats the last time the keys were used, we had gone for weeks and several times a couple of months without locking it and most of the time with a car or 2 in the yard, unlocked and the keys in the ignition, we've never had a problem. Lots of camps go unattended and unlocked all winter up here, if a snowmobiler gets in trouble with a breakdown or lost they often use a camp and leave a note.  We've even got a used car dealer that leaves his cars unlocked with the keys on the floor, they've never lost a car tho at times they might have misplaced one for a weekend lol, I know I've brought a car home for a weekend to see if I wanted it and then called and made the deal on monday lol.  This is one of the last places where you can still live like that.

I figured it out today lol, a six pack of beer in the fridge gave it away, only guy that I know that drinks that brand called today and told me he had lost his lunch stand lol, he was hunting out behind my place and used the bus for a break room lol, I figured it had to be somebody that I knew lol.

Up here things develop differently lol, I gave him a key to the house yesterday in case it was locked, much more comfortable to take a break lol. 99 out of 100 people up here are not a problem, now and then something happens but vary rarely, it's still like 'leave it to beaver' portrayed in many ways up here.  I added a couple of pics of the new wood/coal stove in the living room of the anti-KOA in my other thread on the off topic area.
