Bus AC freon capacity

Getting ready to charge up the system and i'm trying to get a ballpark in how much 134 my system holds.

Rick, don't know much about MCI's as I try not to work on those but the Eagle's and Prevost take around 25 lbs

Hi Rick,

The exact poundage will vary with different options like luggage rack evaporators, drivers air,

and main evaporator size. The last 9 I charged took 19 lbs. My 102C3 takes 17lbs.

Always charge your system from an evacuated state! "29 inch vacuum"

You can't always go by the sight glass either, you need to know when you are getting

cold vapor back to the compressor. "sweating suction line" If you over charge the system, the

first thing that will blow out will be the shaft seal.. Be careful!

I personally would find some shop that does ac work that has enough room to park a bus .There is not that much difference between charging an auto and a bus.That way ,the tech can pull a vacuum and perhaps scavenge some of  your old freon which at 15.00 a pound can be substantial

I have to ask how do you know it is R134A?  My 1982 RTS used R22, same as my house.

And be warned, it takes a LONG time to pull that vacuum down in a coach.

I've seen vacuum pumps connected in the condenser bay and in the rear to try and speed it up.

Also, some custom manifolds between pump and coach.
