Am having a brain F#$@# and got to thinking how nice one of the decals of the old greyhound would look on the side of my MCI 7, ex greyhound bus.  The paint is blue and black course the stainless also. Any info would be great.
Leaving for Lake Powell Monday Labor day so we will be there as everyone else leaves.

Don't know how Greyhound would feel about it but what about x Hound or GRAYHOUND lol

Ooh, I'm sure the legal eagles at Greyhound would love that one. ;)

Try putting a Pepsi or other trademarked sticker on the side of your car. I'd say that if it isn't sanctioned as end user advertising by the holder of the intellectual property then you'd be treading on dangerous ground.

Probably the real world scenario would be a cease and desist order demanding removal of the graphic and maybe some punitive damages if they felt that you harmed their company image in any way either by your driving, cosmetic look of the bus etc.

The 'unofficial' stance from Greyhound as I understand it is that as long as you are not running your dog in revenue service they don't say anything.
We plan to 'Ghost' in all of the running dogs, and most other logos from the 54 to 61 era.  In other words you will not see them at first then say, wow, the logos are coming through!

Greyhound logos are available as freely-downloadable EPS files:

If you're not familiar with them, EPS files are vector files suitable for running a vinyl cutter etc. If you wished to modify the vector file you would need a vector-based drawing package such as Adobe Illustrator. Then just give the final file to your local sign maker, and he'll be able to cut you a set of decals in any size you want. Sign makers can also cut masking film (for painting) in the same way, or even masks for metal etching, sand-blasting etc.

I used to do a bit of sign-making on the side, and used the Brands of the World website a lot. They have everything you can think of - for instance, here are some more which may be of interest:

I have a blue tick coon hound, her pic would be cute on the side of an old Bus.

If I could ever be wealthy with tons of time, I would love to buy a brand new conversion and have it painted as close to the same brown color as UPS trucks right down to the black wheels. Then, drive it around and park for extended periods near a UPS terminal. No logo obviously but it would be interesting to invoke some sort of reaction.

I expatriated to Arkansas from Minnesotaa year ago. I was parked at a Walmart back home this summer, and our son noted the Arky plates on both the Bounder and the Jeep. He works for a painting contractor that paints Walmart storesw up north, he told us how seeing Arky plates freaked out all the managers and employees. Walmart is based out of Bentonville Arkansas, so if you a your parked at a Walmart 3 states away with Arky plates, I guess they think your their to shake things up. Maybe find some mud flaps off a Walmart truck? Maybe a wally logo? Maybe  license plate holder from Bentonville?? Maybe a Rogers schools bumper sticker??

I remember seeing a bus, might have been a small charter outfit, that had a poodle on the side of the bus in the classic greyhound pose.

Well I know of three ex Greyhound Scenicruisers that are painted in Greyhound colors of the era when these buses were in Greyhound service.
One Scenicruiser is restored to the gold stripe paint circa 1962 and it's used as a historical coach.
I doubt that the current Greyhound Corporation even cares that this Scenicruiser it is alive and well.
Put that running Greyhound on the side of your coach and do even think twice.Go for it.

Since my 4104 was sold new to Jack Rabbit Bus Line out of South Dakota I guess I get to paint a running Jack Rabbit on mine?? Maybe a rabbit on the front side and a greyhound chasing on the back side.

If it is not a current logo,
If it is not done to lure paying passangers away from greyhound,
If it IS done in a way that does not detract from the company,
If it is done in good taste,

Then, greyhound will probably leave you alone, as they have done in the past. After all, it is free advertising. . . .
