Where can you get one of these doors, I have a 1976 5B?  Going down the interstate today for some unknown reason the door

decided to leave the bus.  I heard it hit and saw in the rear view, turned around and couldn't find it.   Thanks for any info.

Can't help you on that, but what i did a year or two ago was to make up 2 little cables for each door, that attach from the upper inside corners of the door to the ceiling of the bay. They are just long enough to allow the door to open all of the way but short enough that if the hinges fail, the doors will only lean out a couple of inches....hopefully that will be enough to keep them with the bus and not in the ditch somewhere.
Used to own a 1968 MCI 5A and a 1977 5C.

Actually Sam Caylor or International Bus Parts might have one.

Ed, that's good to know, looking over the rest of them they look like they need replaced.  Metal hinges are the next repair.

I saw what Fred Hobe had in his notes on another site!  Thanks again.

MCIs must have different setups than GMCs.

A GM door is not supported by the hinge when it is closed and latched so a failed hinge will never allow the door to come off while moving.

Unfortunately, the same system allows the door to fall on your head if the hinge fails when you open it!!

However, you don't lose the door-just get a knot or two on the head!!

older mci's have rubber hinges, and swing like a standard door.  newer mci's (some 7's and 8's on up) have metal articualting hinges that swing out and up.
Some are called, some are sent, some just got up and went.
