Problem with MC-9 Salon Door...Need Advise..

I just purchased a 1979 MC-9 and do not understand what keeps the salon door held closed while travelling. My door wants to open when going slow around curves which isn't good. It does have an interior slide lock that connects to the key lock but sometimes it viberates to the "unlock" position if on a bumpy road. I know there should be some type of working air lock system because I can see it in the door frame but don't know how to activate it. Also, there is a "Door Air Lock Over rule switch on the dash but it doesn't seem to be enerigized with any air at this point. Thanks

While no expert, it seems to me that the entire mechanism has a certain point of closure where you go from simply closing to secure as the dash handle almost pops into a closed position. I also then have the air activated lock that "ensures" a closed door. Do you have a copy of the maintenance manual? If not, that will not doubt explain the adjustments that might be necessary.

At this point I do not have any manuals but will get some for sure. I just got in at 4am this morning with the bus. I didn't notice anything with the door until I was 3 hours into my trip home when I started hearing air coming in from around the door where it wasn't tightly closed and when I slowed down to pull over to check it out, the door opened on its own.

Thanks jriddle..That looks like what I needed. I will check out that micro-switch tomorrow and hope that does the trick. If it isn't the micro-switch then it must be the air solenoid valve in the spare tire compartment. Thanks Again!!!

I took a trip to Montana without my air cylinder working. You should be able to lock that door by over centering the handle on the dash by pushing on it. If you still have this handle you may need to readjust it to lock the door. The air cylinder will pull it tight. Let me know if you need other pages from de book.
