Engine compartment extending when repowering

Jack  Lets go get the series 50 and put it in huggy.  We can use the zf tran. Will then give some one a "hot" 6v92.

Kyle, the engine is not bad he removed it because of 2 things he did not like 1 he lives out west now and the 330 hp series 50 did not have a enough power 2nd and probably should not say this but his words and not mine "it will shake the sheets off the bed " he bought the engine brand new it was not a rebuilt it is a very low mileage engine.

What's so wrong with your 6V92 that you want to spend beaucoup bucks (i.e. more than the coach is worth) to repower?

Actually there's nothing wrong with the 6V92 I have. As a matter of fact it starts and runs super. My question was more out of curosity as I've already done an 18" extension. Was wondering if I could now repower with most anything if I needed to.

I been involved several repowers. My thoughts, for what they're worth, stay away from CAT. Nice engines but tough on fuel and poor Jake brake performance. Cummins only from afar. Probably the choice for the future. Detroit 60 and 50. Put in a 60 and you need about a 16" extension. And they're tall. A 50 works well. A little vibration at idle. At speed not noticeable.
I've the 50 in an MCI102A3. Plenty of power with 350HP and 1150 ft/lbs for torque. The engine stays clean. The tow car stays clean. I don't have to hunt for engine oil. No worries about coolant temperature. So far I like the swap.
