Hey all,

Lea and I have been looking for a little scooter to run up to the showers or grab my fishing pole and ride a mile or two to a favorite fishing spot and I was shopping today at Menards (a chain up here in the north that's kind of a cheap mans Home Depot) and I found this little scooter that when it's folded down it is about the size of our road trip grill. The thing runs great and hauls booty (about 20 mph) and it was $275. I actually bought a no questions asked 24 month replacement warranty for $24 so if it craps out on me I'll get a new one. It has front and rear disc brakes, keyed start., comfortable seat and a 500 watt motor, it will run about 15 miles on a full charge and the tires and suspension really actually look well made. I don't know how the Chinese can even cover the cost of parts for the price but I am pretty darn happy with it so far. Just thought I'd share with all of you that are on a budget and can't afford 2k for a scooter and $500 for a carrying rack.

I guess I should have clarified that I am not affiliated in any way with the company that makes these things so the moderators don't think I'm trying to sell you all something.

As long as I am able to walk I prefer getting some exercise after a full day of driving.

We use bicycles when it is too far to walk, but there is always the problem of having it stolen while inside a store.

I'm to big (read fat) for these things.  I don't think they could haul around 315lb.  Good Luck, TomC

Tom,
You could probably lash two of them together and be OK :)

Now what would be cooler is if it was 24 V where you could use the bus to keep it charged! ;)
I've seen one that was!

Menards also has a larger electric scooter for I think $300.  I noticed it the other day when I was buying some stuff for the bus.
