Whew!  Thanks for clearing that up John........I thought I was having a senior moment...."again", after losing a package sent from Clifford in my mess of a shop......(i spent the next 2 days cleaning) senior moments do happen!

As long as this thread is bringing this up........I'd like to step in and throw my nickle in the ring!

When I started out reading this bbl, it was totally awesome the information that was coming out and for that matter........"still is".    I feel its more like family and friends discussing problems like adults, since the section of off topic discussions I've noticed that something is missing or I think so at least!

My Mom would never allow political talk at the dinner table, and being the smart lady there was a reason for this.............political speech has a place but not at the table and not in my favorite bus bbl.  There are many internet sites for political speech........if  I need to rant and rave I'll go there and not hurt feelings here by spouting my politics!   There is no way around this.........feelings get hurt and being human many of us do not easily forgive.   To say, "don't go to off topic and that's the end of it"  isn't the answer, if you think it stops there you are wrong..............its carried over to the bus discussions!

This was just my take on it and what I've observed in the past 5 years!

JohnEd until the next senior moment........carry on, Sir!

QuoteThis thread shpuld follow the other one. Both are a waste of archive space and contribute nothing to the purpose of this board.

House keeping is necessary form time to time, and don't worry, a lot of space was recently opened up.

Hi yo silver

Thanks, Paul.  I didn't even know I could do that.  I've often said things I hadn't thought of yet. :)

Should we consider adding another topic heading called something like "The Woodshed". This would be a read only topic. It would serve to encourage thought before sending out an emotional posting.

The controversial threads can be put there unedited & if people have thin skin, they know to stay away from there. Those who want to know who said what, can go there to see certain patterns.

That way the instigators & agitators can't hide behind edited, modified, or deleted posts.

The threads that were hijacked can be placed there complete & unedited where the original can be cleaned up & left behind.

Just a thought as I've never been a fan of endless second chances - learn your lesson or pay the price.

A very interesting and out of the box approach that should be considered. What would be the drawbacks to doing it? Is it manageable? ......Thinking out loud here.....

Really? I must have woke up on a different planet today. I see the elephant, and I feel that the reason given is a cover for something bigger going on behind closed doors. Why do I say that? I have never seen such drastic actions taken before, even on topics which have caused a much greater stir, and all this lockdown done without the slightest explanation? I can understand having to do a round table, but I think making the thread completely disappear was a poor way of buying time till everyone figures out what to do. We read it, and any damage control at this point is well, pointless.

People who are perpetually unhappy or offended will always seek out and find a way to fulfill that need and way of being. Wiping out threads will only reset the trigger and force us to relive this over and over again. Set the precedent now and you will have to deal with everyone who feels they get a little thumping wanting threads pulled. I can hear it now...You play favorites because you didn't do it for me!.....You did it for _____!......etc. I think you can see how this is wrong, wrong, and more wrong and could easily spiral out of control, don't go there. Now one could argue that threads that do not promote bus conversions would be OK, and I would agree to a point, but we were talking about someones vindictive choice to wipe out hundreds of posts directly relating to buses. I think when you post on a public forum such a this one, those post are no longer your personal intellectual property, it becomes the board's. The actions were purposely done to do damage to the board and the whole bus community. It was a selfish act and it's that simple, we are not talking about some innocent bystander. Remember, you can choose you choice, but you cannot choose your consequences. If you are to maintain the integrity of the this board, you will have to let people sleep in their own beds. Don't let one poor choice lead to another.

That being said, when this blows over we should not look back, and if that individual wants to rejoin us and gets over whatever is going on there, and accepts the initial awkwardness that will surly be felt here. I will be the first to welcome them back in full fellowship. We need that person's knowledge just as much now as we did then. Just don't do this again....OK?

So very well said Barn owl....thanks,

John
