Hey there, I have a question for anyone, what type of material (plastic, PVC, AB, or HDPE ) are the Blank tanks made of?

I ask this because I have Plastic welder and need to relocate the opening of the tank.  There are several types of sticks

(welding rods) white , green , gray. Want to make sure the right stick for the job.

Hey Steve,
:D I gotta tell ya buddy, when I read the subject line, and before I read that you posted it, I was thinking someone was talking about "material" IN a black tank!!  :o   ;D ;D ;D  lol
But hopefully someone brave enough to want to look in your black tank  :D :D will know what the plastic is that they are made of.  ;D ;D There are a few guys who have messed around with them.

  Later buddy......

I think they have been made from all of the above, so the material used for other tanks won't matter much for your situation . . . . Sometimes, there will be a mark or stamp identifying the material. But that mark is of little use if it is hidden.

Or, you could cut the hole for the new opening & try different rods on the scrap to see what works best.

Oh, the fun we find in the dirty little details.  ::)

If the tank is a standard RV type tank, it is probably polyethylene.  Some are ABS.
A Polyethylene tank has a dull matte finish, and is a dark grey , almost black in color.  Maybe if you can post pictures, it would help.  Also, most RV tank manufacturers now have the company name, mold number, and capacity embossed into one of the sides.  With that info, you could contact the tank manufacturer.
