Telescoping Ladder?

Hi,
   I have a 12 ft. folding ladder for accessing the roof of the bus. It is VERY heavy and takes up too much space and is a pain to unfold. I see 12.5 ft. telescoping ladders that weigh 23 lbs and are much smaller and easier to deal with. I'm wondering about stability on uneven ground. Does anyone use one? How do you like it?

I have one and think it's great.  It collapses down to about 30 inches.  It seems as stable or unstable as other ladders.

I have the telescoping ladder and it works well. Have used it quite a bit.  Works well for washing the windshields.

It is NOT as stable FEELING as a normal ladder, but I feel comfortable on it.  If a person weighs over 250#, I think that would be pushing the capacity, no matter how it is rated.

It is obvious, but as you drop the segments, KEEP YOUR FINGERS OUT OF THE WAY (don't ask ).

I also have a knock off of the little giant,cosco and it is very stable but a little heavy.

I also have a telesteps ladder and have used it for the last 6 years. Like Jim, i learned real quick where to have my hand when collapsing it.

i've got a 12 ft that i bought for mounting antennas on rigs.  i've climbed the ladder with a motosat datastorm on my shoulder.  it bowed a little but held fine.  i paid $240 at a horse show in columbus when the guy bounced around on it against a brick wall to show me its capability. he had that thing flexing about 3 feet against that wall!  i was impressed. and sold.

 Not supposed to have too much angle when you use them though.  If the tubes bend they will not retract and can't be fixed.  Read the warnings on the ladder.   I got my 12.5 from Amazon 6 years ago for $99 and free shipping.....it did take 2 weeks to get to me though.

This is the one I think I'm going to get. The price screwed up on the page today so instead of $93 it says $1093. I sent him an offer of $90 + shipping which would be $130. I think I need the 12.5 footer because the ground isn't always flat and I have to be up a little above the roof to be able to wash the solar panels.

Let us know what you think of that one. I have been thinking about that same ladder myself. That one is a knockoff of the Xtend and Climb. It claims 330lbs but weighs less than Xtend and Climb's 300lbs ladder. But for 1/3 the price, if it works I think it would be worth trying.

Hi Jerry,

I have 6- 12' Telestep brand in all our service trucks and 1- 15' Telestep brand in my bus.

Been using them for 8 years now with not 1 problem with them.
