Have any of you MCI 5 owners taken out the main heater core?  If so did it effect the engine cooling?  What is on the front side of the heater core?

Thanks

Why would you disable that system of defrost and forward cabin heat?

Removing it will not impede you engine cooling.  There are valves to shut it off and isolate the heater system.

What is your new source of defrost air and forward heat and driver?

I am always open to new ideas and solutions.....be assured.

Are you referring to the bus heat coils or the driver heater core.  We did take out the OTR heat and AC coils and used the space for a large propane tank and good storage.  We wanted and kept the driver's heat though.

I was referring to the OTR heater not the drivers heat.

Has anyone ever used the heater core for additional engine cooling?  The cor is larger that most auto radiators.

That would work also.  You just have to decide if you need all that extra cooling, want to be running those blowers, and find a way to vent it out.

I talked to 1 busnut that did that. They re-ducted the air to discharge through the bottom of the compartment. I don't remember if he said he actually needed or used it for additional cooling.  Jack

There was a post a wile back about a Knut having trouble getting a heat exchanger mounted in an engine bay door to function.  He was trying to suck cool air IN with an elect fan and have it dump in the engine bay.  He solved his problem by installing that "flap"/"air damn" across the rear of the drive wheels.
