Now that the body repair is done on the 4107 (it was hit in the front while in the storage area), we're probably going to bite the bullet and have the coach painted.  Don't want to spend the money, but it needs to be done to preserve the coach.  The current plan is to soda blast, have any metalwork done, then a one-color paint job.  We'll then add some reflective tape as the accent color.

That'll be the time to have the ugly TV antenna, which looks like a luggage rack, removed.

It's also the time we can do something about the ugly range hood vent.  It looks like it was cobbled together out of galvanized, buy a high school shop class.  In the picture, it's about over the center marker light.  I don't know how large a hole was cut in the roof, but the vent cover itself is rectangular, looks like about 6x8 inches.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks, Arthur

Hi Art,

Is it something you really need? I don't remember your layout.

Can't wait to see the finished product! What color?

On another note, are you guys coming to TBR 2010?

We have a Fantastic fan. So far we have liked it. We purchased the fan that is remote controlled, and it is rain sensing. As soon as it starts to rain, it closes...

Works for us.

God bless,

Art, if you really need a vent for the cook top go with a down draft we have one plus the Fantastic fan, bad thing about a Maxx Air or the Fantastic they both pull to the ceiling.
Maxx Air is a good fan but I keep the roof clean on my bus that is one reason I don't have a satellite or roof airs.
Cody I had a hard time trying to get around about the Maxx Air being ugly LOL but they are good fans

Cody, I would not have made that statement to anybody else but you always find laughter without a watering contest.
BTW how is yours and Libby's health nowdays.

The current plan is to go with a light blue, then use a dark blue (unless I can find medium blue) reflective tape.  I have a sample of reflective tape (not scotchlite), from a company in Florida, it comes in 1, 2, and 3 inch widths, 100-foot rolls.  I'd like to find something more reflective, but scotchlite tape only seems to come in red/white or schoolbus yellow.

The kitchen has a standard range hood now, that exhausts up.  I wouldn't deal with it except for the ugly galvanized chimney -- that's the problem.  Even painting it would be the equivalent of putting lipstick on the pig.  We don't plan to do much cooking, and I don't even use the range hood at home (I'm the chef).  Maybe the best solution is to take the whole thing out and patch the hole in the roof.

Have you considered putting a rv refrigerator vent cap up there?

Brian, in searching the RV parts suppliers, I saw some plumbing vents, but not a refrigerator vent.  Do you have a link?  By the way, the reason I'm asking is that the work is being done at a truck/bus repair shop locally.  The owner has a lot of bus experience, but limited on RV's, and on buses this old.  I had to source all the parts for the accident repair.

Brian, that looks perfect.  Several that I like, although with the Texas sun, I think the metal one would hold up the best.  Thanks so much.

What keeps cold air from pouring in when the fan is not in use? Is there a damper?
