I called in a favor!  My friend brought his boom truck over to pick up the engines and put them on the trailer to bring down to the shop.  He got there about 15 minutes before I did and had the job done!

Here's the truck:

Engines are loaded and ready to be chained down

And here's the big Dodge going over the road!

Here are all three engines I'll be using to make one good one.  Actually two good ones.  The old 4106 had two bad injectors, so I'll take them off the engine I pulled out and replace them with known good ones.  That engine has good oil pressure and no blowby, just messy. Needs a rear main seal, too.

I'm spending the weekend swapping engine parts!

Come on down!  I have beer and DD oil & grease galore!

UPDATE:  I fired up the engine to make certain that the mice weren't living in it!  I cranked it over by hand a few rotations before cranking it with the starter.

It took a few seconds for the lower cylinders to get fuel as you can see the lack of smoke from that bank.  Once that side got fuel, it fired right up.

Here's a Video of the engine starting up.

Yes, it's one of the engines that was on the trailer.

No blow-by at all, zero.  The last time I started the engine was Jan 2009, some 16 months ago.  It was 36 degrees outside and it fired up after about 10 seconds of cranking.

Take a look at the acorn shells coming out of the lower exhaust!

Turns out I have to swap the lower exhaust manifold.

I'll have the exhaust on and and take some more video tomorrow.
