I figured we've had so many breakdowns and other tramatic events on the board that maybe it was time to post something of a cheerful nature and then mike or frank can move it to the appropriate OT section after a day or so but I'm just a proud papa and can't hand out cigars or anything like that, maybe a shot of geritol but no smokes lol.  As you all know, I've got 2 kids I'm putting thru medical school on my meager income and fighting many battles with my own medical problems as well as libby's, Jamie got a letter from the "Office of the Provost" inviting her to the awards banquet and she could bring some family a couple of weeks ago, so I got all dressed up in my best bowling shirt and clean bluejeans and libby painted her face and we grabbed libby's step dad and off to the awards we went last night, Jamie is attending a Lutheran university up here called Finlandia University, otherwise known as FU lol, she is in the radiology program and doing pretty well, the university president called her to the stage and there she stood with the president and the Provost and they told her that they had for the first time come up with a new award designed for a student that is excelling in her studies, a pleasure to have around the campus and one that is excelling inspite of almost insurmountable odds against it, mainly 2 disabled parents who were also grads of the university, the whole staff and administration had unanimousely chosen jamie to recieve the award, her next year is fully funded and if she maintains her 3.8 GPA, the next year will be also funded etc, I'm so proud of her, she is working so hard to do well, when the guy handed her the award, the whole place stood and gave her a bunch of clap, I just had to share the good news, I'm so proud of her.

Cody,

Only knowing you from this board, I could have guessed that you two would raise kids like that.  Congratulations.

Congratulations!  You have every right to be proud of her.  And she should be very proud of her achievement too.  Like Len said, it is no accident that she turned out so well.  It had an early start I'm sure.  Of course some kids with excellent parents still go bad, so that is also a testimony to her good character as well.

That would be great jack, we've got lots of stuff going on now and then up here lol, even a meetup at the bridge and visit to the island would be fun, but the best would be to show you around the home turf.  We could even take a run up to Finlandia University and get one of their 'Go FU' t-shirts lol, bryce has one and he seems to like it tho I don't think his mom appreciated the humor at first lol.

We will definately keep it on our possibility list. A lot will depend on fuel prices later this summer.  Jack

Cody, that is one great post.  we're so happy to hear you could both make it to the award, that you were able to get there, that they chose Jamie to receive a special award, that you have a daughter that excels so much with so little to back her up right now, and that all of you have smiles from ear to ear!

thanks for sharing the wonderful news.  you have put a perspective on the world for the rest of us to compare to and quit complainin' about our own situations.  It does show that the light at the end of the tunnel is not always a train, but sometimes our Angel with good news.

This week has been so rewarding in so many ways for us, on monday we got the news that libby had been approved for medicaid and they are willing to pick up some of her past kidney related bills, then I found a tray large enough and strong enough to hold my power chair on the back of the truck, then we found a possible vehicle for libbys step dad that will help him out tremendously, then the awards ceremony for jamie, how could a person hope for a better week than that, I can't quite find the words to describe how I feel, happy doesn't cover it, proud is a part of it, it's one of the few times that those of you that know me can find me speachless, I was so pleased about everthing that I wanted my extended family to share in the good news.
