Mike et al,

Received the Feb issue of BCM a couple of days ago and I'd like to compliment the publishers and contributors for a nice issue, but particularly Wendy Crosby for all the great photos she took at Bussin' 2010.

Nice job!

I intended to post this earlier this month, but just realized I didn't.

The February issue was delayed getting mailed due to a problem with the plastic packaging.  It appears the supplier changed their formulation and it affected the way it behaves in the USPS machines.  Up until the January issue we were passing the USPS tests (Merlin) with near perfect scores.  Then on the January issue it did very poorly.  On 20% of the magazines the test machine couldn't read the barcode.  I believe that is the reason we've had quite a few reports of missing January issues.

Beyond that, the flourescent renewal stickers pealed off in the test machine.  So the USPS removed those stickers to prevent problems in their machines throughout the country.  (which impacted our renewal rate for the month)

We had a few small delays putting together the February issue, but were ready to mail it by January 28.  Unfortunately, that is when we found out about the January problem and it took a few days to remedy it.  We ended up putting the address labels on the outside of the plastic.  That required ordering larger lables to avoid those peeling off in the machines.  And still no flourescent renewal reminder stickers.

The March issue is going into paper envelopes to solve the problem entirely and we expect to mail it this Friday.

So now you know ...  the rest of the story.

Received mine today, Wednesday, good looking issue, great photos of Jack & Paul's rally.  Came through with clear plastic package alright.   Now I have to find time to read it from cover to cover.
