I am still having problems with my engine shut off skinner valve. Right after I use penitent it works good, but then it stops working again, any ideas to save me from spending $200 plus on a new one?
thanks  John

What lubricant are you following the penitrant with?

Many are solvent types that free stuff up and then evaporate, leaving it to get stuck again.

happy coaching!

John, throw both the cylinder and the skinner valve away and buy the all in one shut down assembly for 80 bucks at Stewart and Stevenson you'll never be sorry my friend.
I have an extra but it is 12v do you have a 12v tap in the rear that works off the ignition if so this one will work for you

good luck

Is the Stewart and Stevenson setup air/electric or just electric?

There you go Gus under the screw where the power attaches is a 5/16 air supply connection.
The 1 pc works oppsite of the skinner valve and air cylinder it takes momentary power to kill the engine way lot better setup that the skinner and air cylinder and a lot cheaper also.

good luck and thanks Paul

Indulge me, I'm slow sometimes.

If I understand you correctly an air supply is attached under that screw and do you apply 12v to push the plunger out to swing the stop cam?  or does the plunger go out, swing the cam when 12volt is off, ie. master switch off at the cockpit?

Can you post another photo, I can't see much in this one?

It look to me to be an all in one. Cylinder with solenoid on the end. It would be mounted stantionary, slots are for adjusting. I'm sure
Clifford will tell me if I'm wrong! ;D

Sorry about that, I can see if fine. I didn't see those extra scroll bars!!

I'm still confused, the original valve uses air/elec power to keep the fuel on. When the electric switch is off a spring opens the air valve which does the actual shutting off.

Once the air pressure is gone the fuel is always on. It will start even with the engine run switch off until the air pressure builds up.

I assume the one in the photo is a solenoid and air valve in one case instead of the original two separate units. Otherwise I see no difference in operation, the air is still shut off by the solenoid when the engine run switch is on and when the solenoid power is shut off the air is turned on and shuts off the engine!!

I don't understand why this is called momentary power, it is actually constant power as long as the engine is running and no power when it isn't.
