You don't have to believe everything you think.

According to Larry Plachno's book Modern Intercity Coaches, the first bus built in the US was biult by MACK in 1902 and the first vehicle MACK built was a bus.  However, I don't think MACK was building buses in the 60s.  Jack

Jack,I believe Mack built buses till 1968 they had the Thermodyne engines 11L 225 hp I know of a 1967 model.
FWIW they were building 102 wide buses in the 50's

Thanks for the information, Larry's book does not mention MACK after the '30s.  Jack

Really nice one in the  bus museum in Hershey Pa. You have to get a nice shot of the rear end of these coaches. Almost looks like it has fins. And its a LARGE CAR. There is a book on Mack buses  similar to the GM and MCI books.
we love our buses!!! NE Pa or LI NY, or somewhere in between!

I called the guy just to see what he wanted for it.  I figured, "Heck, if it runs well enough to get it home, it could be worth a couple of k as a quest house."  The owner, who just acquired it when the PO died, thinks it is worth about 90k.  That's if he washes it and puts some batteries in though.

DMoeDave, was it two or three years ago since you saw that Mack with the fins?
If so, it was sold to a private man.
That was the one made for Greyhound and actually was in Greyhound service for a while.
Interesting history on it.

It could have been that long ago. I would guess the only reason they got rid of it was it took up alot of space in the lower floor. It is a shame they dont have enough room for them all like they do over at the railroad museum down the road. Shoot they even have alot stored outdooors too. I knew a guy who was crazy about the Mack buses several years ago before i even had heard of them. I hope the new owner of the Mack keeps her rolling and intack.

Did he also state that with some paneling and a paint job it would look just like Dale Jr's camper that he lives in at the races!!?

When we were at the Arcadia bus rally in 2007 we met a gentleman who had done a very nice restoration of a 1952 Mac bus.  The first picture is what it looked like when he bought it in 1999.
