Has anyone ever converted one of these?

I am converting a 1991 Cityliner built in Colorado.  It has 400hp 8v92, 748 Allison, Rockwell drive axle and brakes, Firestone air bags. It also had rust that wasn't really apparent when I bought the bus. It had some bubbled paint above the front wheels; the design has a U section on top of the steel tube (square 1.25") that runs along the bottom of the exterior wall. The U section traps water (condensation or leaks) on top of that tube and against the skin because of the location of the rust on my bus, I think it was water off of the front wheels but about 4 feet of that tubing behind the driver was pure rust. Beware.

Because it has a dropped center aisle, I decided to drop the floor to the lowest point of the aisle; 7" drop. This increased the head room and provided a flat floor back to the rear suspension which was to much re-engineering to move so I have a 7" step into the bedroom.

Would I do this bus again? Yes, I like the style, the huge glass area (you really need all the sun/light you can get here in western Washington), the ride is great and the maneuverability is amazing.

Drop me a line for more information and photos.

ekhedge,
Well you've heard it from the folks who know more about Neoplans than I know about GM's ;D (really I don't know Jack about GM's, but what would you like to know about Setra's? ;D)

Personally I'd say if you likes it go for it!

As for being afraid of having trouble finding parts, if you can't find something, find something close and modify it!

And even though the Germans & I don't always see things the same and they can't fight a war, they do build nice buses! (I wouldn't have anything but a SETRA and Sean wouldn't have anything but a Neoplan! ;D)
FWIW..... & YMMV!
