Steve not that I know anything about Indy (except I grew up there in Eagletucky and graduated from Northwest High School in '84) but I think you meant I-465 not 456!

Anyway keep us posted and that Colts game sucked what the hell were they thinking taking Manning out like that?
;D  BK  ;D

BTW back when I lived in Indy COLTS stood for ;
C ount
O n
L osing
T his
S unday

And local musician Duke Tomato had a good thing going where he sang a new version of a song called "Lord help our Colts" every week using the screw ups from the last game for verses of the song!

Steve5B,

Noticed you did not put a capital "C" on your colts. Looks like you admit your Indianapolis colts are simply pretenders. When they were in Baltimore they were The Colts. May Irsay be in a very hot place right now - and I don't mean Bermuda.

Sad to hear about the bus crash there in Indy. Hope all are OK.

Expressbus,
If you'll remember when Idy aquired the Colts they were hands down the worst team in the league!
Now I ain't say'n that they didn't still have fans in Baltimore, but you, your wife, and kids were probably the only ones.
And even though they sucked for a long time they did turn things around and up until the coaching staff pulled a boner tonight they were kicking @$# this season!

So don't pick on Steve because they were shamed into leaving Baltimore and went to Indy where they paid their dues and rebuilt into one of the strongest teams in the league!

   Bk,

Your right, It was 465.  I haven't a clue why the COLTS did what they did.  They mentioned they needed a rest, REST, they

were off about 10 days. They last played on Thursday night the week before.  Did you go to Northwest here in Indpls?

Steve,
Yes IPS Northwest High School @ 34th & Moller.

Lived just up the road near 34th and Georgetown. (the neighborhood was called Eagledale, but all us locals referred to it as "Eagletucky" since the 3 R taught in KY back then were Read'n, Rithmatic, and Route 31 N to Indy! ;D )

I mostly ran all over the west side from the airport to 56th/71st and the river out to Brownsburg. But on weekends I could usually be found cruising down on Madison and heading out toward Southport or Greenwood to do our racing. The month of May was spent right around the corner from the house at the track!

Looks like it was an airport shuttle bus: http://beta.indystar.com/article/20091228/LOCAL/912280350/
QuoteAnother accident Sunday involved an IndyGo Green Line Express shuttle that slid off I-70 as it headed east from the airport about 5 p.m. Two injured people were treated at the scene.

Just one of a slew of typical accidents after two inches of snow fell on Indianapolis Sunday evening.

For those that haven't seen the airport recently, the new mid-field terminal facility opened about a year ago. All ground traffic now has to enter the airport from the West side, off of I-70. The old terminals were on the east side, right off I-465.

NUSA,

Hey, I am glad that you posted that article because after they mentioned it on the news I could not find any info on the crash.

Whew!  Glad I came into this topic late enough to see it wasn't some friends who are planning on heading out of the Indianapolis area on Friday.  Kind of scary there just for a moment.  Thanks for taking the trouble to post the details for us.  Christy

BK,

Your recollection of the Baltimore Colts is different than mine. We obviously are from different generations or different planets. The Baltimore Colts were given unconditional love by their fans in Baltimore. Yes there were problems generated by the Irsay family's notoriously bad college draft picks. The worst being not drafting Randy White when he was available for the pick by the Baltimore Colts.

My generation of Baltimore Colts included the glory years from the Mid 1950' until I left for college in 1965. Even then I always pulled for my Baltimore Colts regardless of the season they had. It sounds from your response that your generation is in the post 1979 era. Funny how your love for the Indianaplois colts sprang from a cowardly departure at midnight on a snowy January night by the franchise Indianapolis stole away from Baltimore simply because the Irsay's wanted a domed stadium paid for by the taxpayers and Baltimore's fans did not want to pay and also were in love with the traditions of Memorial Stadium. The move had nothing to do with performance on the field. Tickets were never available on a game by game basis. Anyone that had them kept them in the family, just like tickets to Indy 500. Football was made to be played outdoors not in some hermetically sealed building.

Now I know neither side of this discussion can win or for that matter lose. My Colt players are in their 70's, yours are much younger than that. So enjoy your Indy imposters. There is only one Colts team and they were from Baltimore and had they not won the 1958 NFL Championship in the fashion they did who knows if the NFL would even exist for there to be a team named the Indianapolis colts. And by the way, I lived in Indiana from April 1979 until June 1982. I was there for the first game played in the Indy Dome. In fact I went to the 500 that May, stayed in a flea bag motel about 2 blocks away from the dome, and wondered to myself if I could hit the dome roof with an arrow and let all the hot air escape thus deflating the dome.

Happy New Year to you and yours.
