Ok, to make this bus related, our bus was just shook by an earthquake. Yep, you read that right, we just had an earthquake. I am home alone now, as yall know, it really shook me up. I could feel it coming, like from a distance, and then it got really loud and shook the place. I have never been in an earthquake before, so it was quite frightening to me, and my poor dog. :o Anyhow, had to tell someone, lol. ;D  Oh, by the way, we live in Milledgeville, Ga.

Yep, Ruthi you had a 3.2 quake.  A little one, happens all the time where I live. (central coast Calif near Parkfield, the "earthquake capital of the world").  Parkfield's motto is; "Be there when it happens"!

Here is the web site for your quake:http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsww/Quakes/us2009pwbr.php

Hang in there, they are not that bad!

I'll bet it was a shocker!

I know the feeling, I was in one in California back in 92. We took the kids to Disneyland and was staying at the Motel 6 there. It woke me up at about 7 am, then another one about 15 mintues later. It was something to see the telephone poles swaying and to feel the ground rolling was amazing. No damage, but it sure scared the heck out of us.

Glad you are OK.

Well,,,,,,,now I know why I have no desire to go to California. :o Yikes! It may be classified as LITTLE, but on Ruthi's scale, it was at least a medium one,  ;D ;D

OH, yes the the earth moved, Dallas.

When the big one happens we will be on an island off California and I'll have some ocean front property to sell.

When the 6.5 Paso Robles, CA quake in 2003 happened we didn't even get any plaster cracks!  We where about 30 miles from the epicenter.

Being a fourth generation Californian helps, I guess.  We experience two different types; what we call the "rolling" ones and the sharp "crack" ones.  The rolling ones you can actually see the earth "ripple", just like waves.  The "crack" type is sorta like a freight-train jolt.  They both sorta move the pictures around.  If the pictures are askew, I'll check the earthquake site to see what we had.

Well, it was strange, I could feel the "roll" before it got to me, I guess. Then it was really loud. When I was young, I lived North of Houston, Tx. There was a large plane that went down into a neighborhood just north of us, short of the airport. That sound is kinda what it sounded like. I am sure anyone in Cali. is used to them, but, here in Ga. it is a big deal. I did some research, and I guess there have been quite a few over the yrs. here. We had one back in the spring, but we were on the road working when it happened.

I am glad it happened before I went to bed, otherwise, the security alarm would have been set, and most likely would have went off, and I would have been running around with a gun, really freaked out, lol.

A little different then driving down the road-which our buses go through "Earth quakes" every time we drive them.  So the bus is the safest place to be in an earth quake.  Good Luck, TomC
