Cody;

Glad to here that things went well for Libby. Remember that just because some one has not responded does not mean they don't care. Some people don't share well, and we don't always know what to say.

I have a prayer team working on you and libby. uh for you and libby.

Hang in there.

Hope to see you both next year.

Don

I talked to libby for a little bit tonight, they have given her a walker and her job was to plod up the hallway, then plod back to her room, she accomplished that feat with time to spare, they did clock her with a calender and her heart rate did elevate but not into uncharted waters, I asked her if she would be coming home with a walker cause I needed to know if I should get one of the local welders to add a bumper on it or not, she doesn't know yet, the doctors haven't said anything about her coming home but I'm confused as to where the turbo goes.

Better not ask Libby.....she might tell you exactly where to put it.  ;D

I talked to libby this morning, she is coming home tomorrow, she will still need a lot of help, and the dialysis will continue for a while as her kidneys improve and her activities will be severely limited but her functions have improved 100% with the new blood flow, her creatine levels dropped from 9 and 10 to 1.9, normal is around .05 or so.  The stents made the improvement, I can't thank the people here enough for the prayers, I know they were heard, the doctors that did the surgury were not only the best of the best but I think they had some help watching over them, I still have a lot to do to make this place comfortable for her but the doctor said that after 3 to 6 months of recovery she could probably travel again, we're both excited about that. One of the side benefits is that being a dialysis patient automatically qualifies her for medicare, that'll help with any future medical issues but that doesn't kick in for 3 months. The traveling back and forth has taken a toll on the both of us but now we can concentrate on her recovery, she said she feels like a new person but for now she'll keep me.  Now the real work begins lol, i've got to design a catapult or a lift to load my chair into the truck for her, that'll also involve getting a taller topper for the truck cause mine is only cab height and a ramp for the house all the happy stuff, I knew she was feeling better when we were discussing all the work that has to be done, she said that after it's all done with she'll probably get hit by a car lol.

Cody that is great news!
;D  BK  ;D

Now about that lift for the chair. Just out of curiosity couldn't you buy or have a platform carrier built that would fit in your receiver hitch? I see them around here like that all the time. Then you could either get a cover made for it or just get a blue tarp and wrap it up good and use about 20 bungee straps to hold it down and around the chair. Just a thought. Should be cheaper than a lift & new topper! (if you remember even a ramp was going to be outrageous $ when we last checked on a light weight one that one person could handle!)

Just be sure to put a hole in the tarp for Libby's head so she can see.  ;D

BK,

The problem with the little platform is the chair would get covered in slush, and grit during the winter....

I thought of the same thing, but that is what Cody said. Work fine in the summer, not in the winter.

God bless,

BK, I have a tray that would hold the chair, the only problem with that is that in the winter weather up here it gets slopped up so bad with snow and water and slush that it would be hard to keep dry enough to use, even with a tarp they get really bad, I tryed it already with mine and the electrics took a day to dry out after a trip to walmart in the slush.  The key is to get the chair inside the truck box.  They had an electric lift, kind of like a small crane, at Goodwill a while back but they wanted a grand for it and wouldn't budge or take payments or anything, but it did sell.  Those ramps I have for the golf cart may be workable if I can cover them with something like an expanded metal, the lugs are too far apart for the chair wheels, they would fall in between them.  I'm looking into a lot of idea's.

OH CAT that is just too funny! I would have expected that out of Cody or Dallas, but sweet little ol' you? NEVER! ;D
The tarp is only for when the chair is on the "lift" not while Libby is riding it! (and no he's not supposed make her ride back there! She needs to be in the truck as always!)

Cody couldn't you get a tarp that would lay on the lift and then drive the chair onto it and then wrap the chair completely to keep the elements out? (trust me I know it'd be time consuming, but just looking out for your wallet! I know it's been on such a diet lately that it looks worse than any anorexic teenage girl ever did! ;D)
