I have a Duo-Therm AC unit that cools fine and the blower seems to be working ok, but after about 10-15 min. it trips a breaker. Is there anything I can do or check? I this a sign of an AC unit that is dying? Where do I start?

Thanks

Barn Owl,

If the unit is atill cooling properly when it tripps the breaker, then I would replace the breaker first. The breakers are only good for a dozen or so

tripps before they are weakened. Then see if that still happens.  If it does, then you will have either a fan motor going bad, or the compressor

going bad. Either one is not usually worth fixing.

Hope this helps

You might check to see that the breaker is the proper size (I use 20A breakers on my A/C's) and the guage of the wire.  If the guage of the wire is  AWG12 or larger you're safe to use the 20A breaker.  If the A/C was wired with AWG #14 ga. that could be causing your problem.
