As some of you know, I'm in Hawaii, waiting on my plane to Florida.

Under the wing of the plane, in the shade is a pallet mover with a casket on it.  Next to the casket standing in the sun on the tarmack is a marine in full dress uniform.  He is standing at attention, he hasn't moved in 20 minutes.  It must be 95 degrees.

These are the men that honor our country.

Bill,

That would be very sobering. That is increadible that he loved his country that much to give his life. And that other Marine could be feeling awfully sorry for himself having to stand there for so long, but his devotion and obedience is amazing.

Thanks for sharing.

God bless.

John.

Sure wish you had a photo. More people NEED to see the sacrifice some people make to keep this country free! I offer my condolences to the family of this brave warrior. May God be with them.

True Grant, Bill, thanks for sharing. My son in law is career military, and it amazes me the things he goes thru for our country. He has seen hardships and things that most of us could not take. Thanks to all the military troops for what they do, and thanks to all who have gone before.

When we landed in Atlanta, the pilot ask us to remain seated, so a marine could exit the plane first, he explain that he was escorting the casket of a fallen comrade. NO ONE moved, when the officer stood, he was given a very respectful applause. This is the first time I have ever NOT seen a rush for the door upon landing, it was silent in the cabin. It felt good to be an American, where we value every life.

I spoke to the officer for a couple of minutes, he was seated across the isle, sort of behind me, we spoke of cat fish, grits and sweet tea. Told me he was from North Caroline.  He didn't mention his comrade, neither did I.  I did however, shake his hand and said "Thank you".  He replied, "Your Welcome". There was nothing else to be said, he understood.

Bill,

It is wonderful your attentiveness to the devotion of our Military.

The 95 deg in his mind is little sacrifice, as compared to his fellow Marine.
