Bus RV storage covers, CoverKing, etc? Any recommendations?

Hi All,

I'm looking to get a good 35' cover to handle the PacNW weather that will hold up to all the rain we get and sometimes snow down in the valley. Our Challenger has dual slideouts and need extra weather protection.

If you own one and would  like to recommend it, please let me know.

I didn't see one big enough at that site.
I also don't think too much of big covers as they are too heavy for me to work with.
I'd think that the stuff on the roof would quickly wear a hole in the cover.

What about a metal carport?

I also think the carport is the best long term solution for the money.  A number of deals around if you do some looking.

That said, Camping World just sent me a sale brochure for their various RV covers.

You want to get a cover that will allow air to circulate under the cover to prevent mold/mildew buildup.

Thanks for the input guys. A carport would be nice but it's a bit cost prohibitive right now once all the options are factored in to fit a bus. We have some local metal building companies in our area and will keep it in mind....

Luckily our bus is in covered storage at a nice facility, but is like making payments on something kinda spendy (like a new shed).

We just had a rv metal cover put in for our bus. It is 52ft by 18ft. It is around 14 ft tall in the center. We paid around 3400 for it  from a carolina carport dealer.

I considered a cover when I had my travel trailer.  I decided against getting one after doing some research.  Quite a few issues with wind motion causing the cover to scratch corners and such.  Also issues with the corners wearing through after a few seasons.  Scratching may be less of an issue with buses having more rounded corners.

I bought a cover from CW last year. The instructions of how to place it on the roof ETC. where excellent. One week after it was installed the wind came up (40+MPH) and that was the end of the cover. The only thing I salvage was the nice bag the cover came in. I use the bag to collect leaves in the Fall. Probably the worst $400.00 I ever spent.

I spoke with CoverKing today and found out the cover from Costco isn't the same thing you can buy direct. Costco, down grades the material grade by 50%- 600 to 300 denier, but only lowers the price by $140, from $498. Not sure if equals a "good" deal/price, that Costco is so well known for, with the occasional exception.

We do have high winds during winter storms and easily reach 40+ MPH. Maybe it's not the best idea, but I want to cut our storage costs somehow.

The metal carport isnt close enough to do any damage. We know of people who have them, and have withstood some pretty high winds.

Hi Gary,

I have the Shelter King brand of what you are looking for.

It's 42'x14'x16'. Over the past 5 years, I replaced the cover once. It holds up very well in storms.

It survived 4 noreaster storms with the first cover.
